I am considering buying a bow to use to ctb. I've had prior experience with using bows, and it's unlikely I will be able to get a gun anytime soon, so I'm considering using a bow. Would it be a viable option? My method would be to put the arrow on it, put it in my mouth, pull back the string, and then let it loose. Arrows have good penetration, even better than most firearms, so it could work potentially, but I'd like to see if there are any problems with it first.

If you have prior experience with bows, I'm sure you can imagine how awkward if would be to shoot in that direction. I don't think you'll have the strength to properly draw the bow, and your arms aren't long enough for the projectile to have room to accelerate to full speed.

My prediction would be a pretty nasty cut, possibly lethal, but with much pain, and a high risk of failure.

I don't recommend this. The arrow doesn't reach its maximum velocity potential until it's no longer in contact with the string.

Putting it in your mouth doesn't provide enough travelling distance for the arrow to reach its maximum velocity.

Theoretically, if you provide enough travelling distance for the arrow, then you'll probably die, but if your goal is to achieve similar death to that by a gun, then I highly doubt that being possible, so you might actually not die quickly and painlessly.

This is quite a bad idea as others have noted. Not enough travel distance and also probably wouldn't KO you like a gun would so you might end up having an extremely unpleasant demise.

I know there was a guy who used a crossbow mechanism to commit suicide. Basically, he put the crossbow on a tripod and triggered it with a metal rod, and it hit him in the eye and probably pierced into his brain. Could maybe do something like that

I look at this as a non-method for the practical reasons stated in previous responses, and it just seems like a really bad way to make your situation much worse than it already is.
