Hello everyone. First off, I would like to say that I am still planning out the details of my method as I have a particular set of circumstances that need to play out before I ctb. Perhaps I will go into detail in another post but for now, onto the meat of this thread.

I have done some research into methods I think I have a solid choice. CTB via firearm is the most powerful option available! According to allhopelost, death via shotgun to the head is the quickest and least painful method (well, as painless as far as ctb goes). All it takes is a few pounds of pressure and its lights out! I also happen to live a state that loves guns and are easily obtainable by a trip to the gun store, so its the best case scenario really. I am aware of other methods like CO or SN, but for my situation they seem really easy to mess up and I want something highly effective with no turning back. Surely a bullet to the brain point blank will do the trick. Now, I need some help with the details. I really dont know that much about guns so the following questions may seem basic. I apologize in advance
-Any difference in shotgun models? I havent decided where exactly to get one either. How should I pick it up and store it? Do they just give you a case to carry it when you purchase the firearm?
-Ammo type suggestions? I need something that will cause the MOST amount of damage possible. Something that will render my brain into mush and kill my conciousness instantly. Ive heard that a 12 gauge slug does the trick but that also a birdshot isnt bad either, so im kind of confused.
-Where to aim? Right side of the temple seems to be the most popular choice but I'm not sure how quickly that kills you. I know you need to hit the brain stem for the quickest death but how hard would it be the aim there? Whats the worst place to aim?
-How do i practice shooting the gun? Id like to get used to aiming and shooting with it before i ctb. I know that some people flinch before firing and miss what they were aiming for. What does "flinching" mean exactly? How does one avoid doing it?

Sorry if these are dumb questions. I want to get the method right unless I mess it up at the last minute and become a vegatable. Thank you!!

Do you have a range bear you? They may have classes or private lessons. I'd start there.

Not sure how useful this is, but personally I've only heard bad things about birdshot and wouldnt be going for it if there's anything better

This sounds like a good idea and Ill take it into consideration
I heard pointing in the mouth is the best way to hit the brain stem instantly
Noted. Ill def do some more research then to be certain I do it.

In your opinion, what would be the best ammo to use? If you have any ideas let me know. In the meantime, ill stay away from birdshot

Honestly, I'm not sure. I don't live in a country where ctb by gun is feasible, and I only really know that birdshot isn't a very good idea. Someone else could probably help a lot better

for the flinch, you take the gun, put the barrel in your mouth, lift the gun, and slam the butt on the ground to force yourself to compress the trigger. flinching is basically where you twitch or sort of...cower before the barrel. its hard to explain. you can go to a gunrange, fire some shells at targets. be wary of the recoil lol.

the worst place to aim is too far forward. with a shotgun, dead center of the roof of your mouth, angled slightly back towards the back of your head is the way to do it.
use buckshot in whatever gauge of the gun it calls for. no other ammo is needed for this. it will do its job. do NOT use birdshot. its meant for duck hunting and suck, the pellets are very small and increase the chances of it not working. a slug would work okay, but itll punch *through* your head and into your ceiling. no bueno if you have upstairs neighbors. buckshot has much less penetration behind it.

you can get a cheap turkish(?) shotgun at Walmart. if we were discussing offensive and defensive needs, there would be a lot of discussion of which is good, which is crap, etc. but for ctb, a shotgun is a shotgun is a shotgun.

i don't remember if wallmart gives you a case. i don't believe so, but you can get a cheap one at academy for like 50$, iirc. most of the Walmart shotguns are polymer plastic anyway, so you can just stick it at the top of your closet if theres no kids running about or anything.

i hope this answers your questions!

"...but for CBT" Doesn't that make it even more important? You only have one shot between living permanently disfigured and disabled or succeeding. It's completely possible to fail, it's the one thing in the world it'd make sense to blow all your money on making sure you don't. This isn't against you as the rest of your post is certainly more helpful than most, but I'm confused and can't understand why no one seems to take the choice of gun and ammunition into account, why no one seems to have seriously looked into what's best rather than what's cheapest (And if anyone has, please direct me to it! I've been looking for years and already cycled through all the posts of the Firearm Megathread). I understand it's unlikely to fail, but it's nowhere near impossible and it's the one thing you'd want to lower the chances of the most, isn't it?

i described which ammo is the preferred and why, though im a little uncertain myself why noone else talks about it. the reason shotgun types are rarely discussed is because they're "idiot proof" weapons. easy to use, hard to fail suicide with. most people who blow their face off (literally, if you shift the gun too far forward, youll blow your facial structure apart) bleed out in minutes. it just isnt as important as the ammo. you don't need a $15,000 dollar USAS automatic shotgun or 500$ Mossberg to kill yourself when a $150-$200single shot walmart bought one kills you just as good lol. a cheap shotgun is almost always just as reliable. this isnt the same for rifles or pistols, but shotguns are simple in design wheras those guns aren't.

This is but my own personal advice, please double check any information I give.

"Any difference in shotgun models? I havent decided where exactly to get one either. How should I pick it up and store it? Do they just give you a case to carry it when you purchase the firearm?"

- Shotguns are largely interchangeable because they are very basic. Just avoid any gun under $200, in my opinion. The process of purchasing a firearm in the United States largely looks like this: If you are under 21, you are prohibited from purchasing handguns. You walk into the gun store and ask about their selection of firearms. If you find one that you are satisfied with, you tell them you wish to buy it. They will then take you to the counter and have you fill out a form (Form 4473) which asks basic questions about you, as well as around 12 yes/no questions about your citizenship, if you are a felon, if you intent to do anything illegal with the firearm, if you are the real buyer of the firearm, etc. They will ask for a government issued identification during this process and contact information, usually a drivers license will do. You will then undergo a background check. If you are under 21, this process may take up to 10 days. If you are over 21, it may take up to 3 days, but average time seems to be a couple of hours. After the form is filled out and the background check is submitted, you will typically pay for the background check ($25) and firearm, and they will tell you they are waiting for a response and they will contact you when the check clears. If the check returns clear, they will contact you telling you your firearm is ready to be picked up, then you can go back to the store, they will typically have it in a cardboard box that you can bring into your car, and that is it.
Generally, you should store your firearms in a firearm safe, but you do not have to.

"Ammo type suggestions? I need something that will cause the MOST amount of damage possible. Something that will render my brain into mush and kill my conciousness instantly. Ive heard that a 12 gauge slug does the trick but that also a birdshot isnt bad either, so im kind of confused."

Slugs, buy slugs. The idea of using birdshot stems from the fact that birdshot is made up of many tiny pellets that are intended to spread out over a distance, but at point-blank range they act more like a single mass of lead, or, like a slug. Do not use birdshot. Buy slugs.

"Where to aim? Right side of the temple seems to be the most popular choice but I'm not sure how quickly that kills you. I know you need to hit the brain stem for the quickest death but how hard would it be the aim there? Whats the worst place to aim?"

If it comforts you, no matter where you shoot yourself, point-blank shotgun shots to the head are incredibly lethal. I'd advise against going through the mouth because the survival instinct can be very strong. If you think you can manage that, kneel on the floor and aim the barrel at a 25-45 degree angle relative to the floor. And important note, do not aim 90 degrees vertical. There is a slight chance you may survive because in a 90 degree vertical shot, you largely miss the brain stem and end up shooting your face and the frontal lobe of your brain off. While this is incredibly damaging, some people have been known to survive this type of shot.
Test
(Correct Diagram of angle of aim of an intraoral shotgun shot)

Another option is through the side of the head. This is easier to pull of in my opinion, but can prove an awkward angle to aim and pull the trigger. Place the barrel just behind your ear, that is where to aim.

"How do i practice shooting the gun? Id like to get used to aiming and shooting with it before i ctb. I know that some people flinch before firing and miss what they were aiming for. What does "flinching" mean exactly? How does one avoid doing it?"

- I would say try dry firing the gun. Dry firing means firing the firearm with no ammo. Be warned, in almost every firearm, even if you remove the magazine, you can still have 1 bullet in the firing chamber (1 in the chamber). Many people have died accidentally because they assumed the firearm is unloaded and did stupid stuff with it. Check, and double check. "Flinching" means that just before you fire, you hesitate and end up altering your aim as a result. Think of just before you pull the trigger, you get scared for a half a second and try to push the gun away from you, altering your aim and maybe causing a less-lethal shot. To avoid it, I would practice dry firing in the position you are planning for.

Here are some tips:

Try to genuinely become interested in firearms. Gun store employees know people buy guns to kill themselves with all the time(at least in the United States), and they are on the lookout for any red flags. If you seem like you don't know what you are talking about, they might ask more questions then they otherwise would have.

eg. "Why are you buying this one in particular?" "What do you plan on using it for?"

Know what gauge shotgun you want. 12 gauge is the most common and typically the most versatile. Do not try to buy a self-defense shotgun and claim you want to use it to hunt. This demonstrates you haven't put in a lot of thought and research into what gun you want, which could be suspicious.

Remember, the vast majority of people buy guns all the time for legitimate reasons. Hunting, self-defense, sport shooting, or just because they are cool. Your goal is to appear to be one of these people.

Of course, please give this considerable thought before you put this into action. Hope this helps. If you have any additional question, you can ask ChatGPT. Also, look up your local state's gun laws. What I have outlined is how it generally goes, but this can vary quite a bit depending on what state you are in(If you are American).

Sorry if this is a stupid question, and I imagine the answer is no, but would it be possible for me as a foreigner to buy one while only having holiday VISA?

It is not possible. To purchase a firearm in the United States you must be a citizen or possess permenent residency.
