do you listen to music in stereo or mono ?
(I am asking this because a lot of people don't know that they can change this in their settings most of the time which is bizarre to me)

also why ?
do you think this influences your taste in music as well ?

I personally listen to all music in stereo because I like feeling, tasting, smelling, and imagining the layers I don't know how to explain it / I guess I just want to dissect it in a way with my ears ?

and is there any genre that you have specific audio settings/preferences for ?

If it's made in stereo, I listen in stereo. When you get back to the 1960s and there are competing mono and stereo versions, things get a bit murkier and often the mono versions are better - the classic example of course being The Beatles.

Always stereo unless the music has some crappy effects/mixing. Even then I can't be bothered to switch.

As someone pointed out, back when stereo was still a thing the mixes were absolutely insane. Hard left drums, hard right bass, ect. It was wild, dude. Cut to the Year of Our Lord 2024, we have pretty much abandoned mono (unless for monophonic sounds like sub bass, kicks, ect... but that's more nerdy audio production stuff).

Although one thing that pisses me off is that when people upload video with mono audio they never flatten the stereo field so it just plays out of one ear. It's so fucking easy to do it with any video editor now. You're molesting my eaaaarssss 😭😭😭

Who listens in mono?

All of my music has cool stereo effects that are really fun with headphones.

I only use mono when one of my earphones doesn't work. Otherwise, I just stick with stereo.
