An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.
Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.
Remove the only place where we have access to support. Replace it with shaming, mental health codes, and useless hotlines that I called 8 times with no answer till I figured Ill just go ahead and jump.
Because muh pro laif
Makes perfect sense
Such a Noble fight theyre putting out :)
If you don't use google as your search engine and/or look hard enough you still find this site.
Thank god they did not ban it entirely, wouldn't have found it in the first place.
Idiots.

Censorship still exist and then it doesn´t matter if it was the monarch who enforced it hundreds of years ago or dictatorships or modern day democracy in first world countries, every kind of government has its censorship to further their agenda and/or what they think is morally right but what is right or wrong is merely subjective.
Our site's search results have been completely removed for German users for being "illegal" (citation needed) and we were never notified about it. I had to go look for myself on Germany search results and I didn't see the website when I searched it.
Upon further investigation, I stumbled upon a thread here that referred to a site being illegal and it is from the search results, but it didn't mention a URL or name of the website. We now know that it is referring to our website and we will be contacting Google inquiring about this. A notification is the least they could do if you're going to block an entire countries population from viewing a website, a first world country at that. It also seems that the website was removed under the guise of it being "for the children" as it references in the complaint that our site was illegal according to "German Youth Law"
Germany seems to be the only country that has taken this course of action. I just wanted to let you all know that this has been confirmed by myself.
That doesn't sound good for me. I live in a neighbouring state, very repressive when it comes to mental health issues. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened here, unfortunately.
Thanks to Sanctioned Suicide, i now use DuckDuckGo. For years now, I have wanted to tell Google to go suck my cock, but I didn't want to give them the privilege or the pleasure. Now Google can Go suck Duck...
Maybe not so coincidentally, Google was founded at Stanford, while DuckDuckGo was founded in one of the great bastions of world rebellion, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
I'm just glad to be here, even if I can't fit in here anymore than I ever could anywhere else. (Meh. Goes with the territory with Asperger's...)

I've seen several pages on the internet, those type of sites that ask for people's petition to end websites and such, SS is there right next to 13 reasons why.
@RC90--thanks for sharing. Right next to 13 Reasons Why, huh? That's all I needed to read. Moralistic censorship. Yet suicide rates continue to climb. Censorship is obviously working. /S
Sad to know everyone that tries to shut down ss won't even hear us out to figure out a better way to help us, just keep posting a phone number to pretend they care
Some of us cannot even be helped, that a another thing they cant wrap their heads around. they think bc something is a metal problem and not physical there can be a cure.

I am even somewhat glad this forum is not able of being found in Germany. That means less attention in my country. Less media reports and less Germans who could potentially identify me.
I did not know it was banned from google anyway. I have a link saved for this website so I even did not notice it.
The "ban" is ridiculous. I did not even know google does not show it anymore in the search results.
im interested what you mean, but i will say that part of greatness of this site is the privacy and independence, at the same time i havent seen any nazis or racists or anything, so i would be inclined to credit a somewhat cohesive philosophy as well
not sure if this was wholly meant for me but cheers. like, i know how the statement looks, and i assure you i could go in depth with it, the only reason why i didnt take legal action was because i knew i was on a trajectory to homelessness already and i had reason to believe i would be outside the jurisdiction for a court date that would have resulted from a not guilty
Wait, so does that mean that you can't access SS at all in germany from a google search engine?
So it's basically darkweb content there now?
How can such censorship be justified? I would expect this from an authoritarian, anti-freedom of information country like china, but not germany.
l
I think we can expect that most other countries will follow suit.
It's just a matter of time.
What will people do without SS?
bc the need to censor things doesnt come from a mentality that is "liberal" in the sense of what the word actually is supposed to mean. they're just a bunch of posers lol

If ddg is located on usa territory its most likely not much better than ggl, at least its just a matter of time till the nsa and cia knocks at their door to give them their national security letter if they haven't done yet. I still prefer ddg over ggl though.
In the UK where I live the site is no longer visible on a Google search. I had to add the site on my bookmarks so I can access it still.
This is bullsh*t these people who want the site taken down do absolutely nothing to improve mental health and social inequalities in society but just want to feel better about themselves.
These people who want the site taken down are the biggest pieces of sh*'t pretending to be saints.
DEAR PARENTS WHOSE CHILDREN USED SS:
I DONT GIVE A F* CK YOUR DEAD TEENAGE SON USED THE SITE. YOU'RE THE SAME PIECE OF SH*T PARENTS YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T LISTEN TO YOUR SON WHEN HE REACHED OUT.
I am getting f*cking fed up of agenda driven grieving parents trying to get the site taken down, there far too many parents who don't appreciate or listen to their kids when their kids express emotion. Most of these parents who lose children to suicide are NOT innocent either.
what about the twitter account? i guess it isnt that big of a twitter account. with all this said, i wonder how i found this site years ago, maybe i got lucky with googling something related once

Honestly the reason I found the site is because it was obvious google was completely filtering anything that resembles a discussion or information about suicide. So duckduckgo is the only one who keeps freedom of speech. I feel the only people that will reach the site are those desperate and knowledgeable enough to know how to bypass google after we have become so dependent on it.
Are you guys surprised about people wanting to censor suicide with all the social justice warrioring
The twitter account is ok.

Same here in Ireland SS doesn't show up on Google only helplines and sites that are against SS. I have this site bookmarked for as long as I've bin here but today I had to use their Twitter page to access the site I dunno why ?
