An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.
Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.
John Prine (and Nanci Griffith) - "The Speed of the Sound of Loneliness"
I didn't even notice that. Oops! My song selection was supposed to go with "The Sound of Music" and since you included "The Sound of Silence" as a second choice, I am going to leave it alone.
I'm a firm believer that music transcends language. He raps in German. There's a huge underground scene in Germany for hip-hop, that has some of the best music of that genre:
From Uwe With Love, Negroman:
Time to match the bare minimum with your song, hah!
QOTSA is one of those bands where the guitar work is extraordinary, and is played by the lead singer at the same time.
Go With the Flow, by Queens of the Stone Age:
Lead Belly - "In the pines" [I was going to share Nirvana's version of the song but discovered they were calling it "Where Did You Sleep Last night." (I wonder why they did that?) Oops.]
Also... I found this lovely song. Wow! Talk about dark (and at least somewhat relatable!) lyrics over a lighthearted, maybe even danceable, accompaniment. Kudos to the writer. I dedicate this one to my friend @Un-.
