I have a question towards SN. I poured the powder from the orginal box into the closed can. Will it be still good when I decide to take it? Does it have a influence on SN's purity?

SN has a shelf life of three months after having been exposed to the air.

Use a vacuum sealer to seal it in a bag, keep it out of the light and at an appropriate temperature, and it will keep for quite some time.

Once it is exposed to the ait it starts to convert to sodium nitrate, which is nowhere near as lethal. How long it is good for is really uncertain- some sources say that it has a half life of about 90 days- that about half will convert every 90 days.

It is still good. The manufacturer guarantees that SN is good for at least 3 years after you open it as long as you store it properly. Store it in an airtight container and keep it away from heat and moisture. It turns into sodium nitrate very slowly after prolonged exposure to oxgen.

" Chemtrade suggests that under proper storage conditions, the shelf life for dry sodium nitrite is at least 3 years. While sodium nitrite may cake, clump and harden within 6 months of the manufacture date, the chemical assay will remain within manufacturing specifications for at least 3 years. The table below summarizes the shelf life across Chemtrade's dry sodium nitrite product line."

This may not be correct- this attached sheet says it will last three years when stored in the right conditions, and it may be that the right conditions include that the airtight seal has not been broken. Like many products, once it is exposed to air the shelf life is much shorter. I do think that it is likely that the three years rule only applies to airtight containers that ave not been opened.

Yes, this doesn't say anything about the packaging the SN came in having been opened to transfer to an airtight container and the product being exposed to air in the process which is difficult to avoid.

A closed can won't protect it from the air- if you put it in an airtight glass mason jar and fill the jar to the top this would help a lot. If you don't so something like this it will degrade faster I would think.
