SN can be used to make explosives. They probably treated it as terrorist threat.
If this statement is in relation to what I said that is not the case at all. Cmht wanted to dispose of it correctly and sought advice from the police, police wanted to do it because of its use as an accelerate in explosions. What you said was never mentioned nor did I have any interaction with the police which you would think they would want to speak to the individual if suspicion had crossed their mind of what you had said.

As can be sugar. And many everyday chemicals. So this is not the point. You need to look long and hard to find any laws that protect people from the government. We are just some useful (useless?) idiots to them, destined to do their bidding.

Are you sure that isn't Nitrate rather than Nitrite? I don't know... maybe both are used. I don't want to look it up... authorities might get the wrong idea...

They have blown up whole towns trying to offload nitrate from train cars. And those were supposedly experts. Having some chemical and knowing what it can be used for does not mean you have the means, expertise or intent to do anything. Still, they can use anything as as a pretext if it fits the agenda. It is implied that the only safe place is a cage.

Shit- sounds terrifying. Still- I'm assuming that was NiTRATE not NiTRITE? I know someone here got a (very worried) police check because they had mistakenly been informed that they had purchased Nitrate (instead of Nitrite.)

Ammonium nitrate, the most common fertilizer, is also used in industrial explosives. There is no justification for any "checkups" unless they also bought a detonator. I'm assuming that person has no history of blowing up things. I'm not aware what kind of training police officers have, but they should know better.

P.S.
Sodium nitrate is also used in fireworks and elsewhere, but unless they bought some large amounts, there is still no justification.
