If I may make an unsolicited suggestion, you could potentially spend many hours a day meditating instead. (you may even be rewarded with altered states of consciousness and the feeling of being high)

of course, its not as if doing this is going to be easy either, but it certainly sounds like the more practical/doable option than trying to spend your entire day sleeping. there are people out there who could spend as much time as 6 hours or more of straight meditation.
This I would try.

I slept in (with the exception of having breakfast and toilet breaks) until 5pm today. Why spend that time awake when it makes me feel miserable?

on the lowest dose they are quite relaxing at night with none of the downsides e.g. benzos have. After a few weeks of good night sleep you may not need them anymore. I agree we shouldn't need medication. Sleep is our one precious break from the pain

Good luck, mate. Please share your experience once you've tried it. (15 minutes twice a day is my current session and I already find that challenging at the moment,so I certainly wouldn't be able to tackle on this kind of task at the moment, lol.)

If it turns out however that you can't pull it off, feel free to start with shorter sessions and build yourself up like what I'm doing.

Another unsolicited suggestion from me,but you could try meditating lying down.

I and many others only use it as a secondary method(if our bodies are currently in pain or we're injured or something)because there's a risk of drifting off to sleep, but for an insomniac such as yourself, this may not be a problem.

A few things could happen:
- You end up in a vivid daydream.
- You accidentally fall asleep, maybe even enter a lucid dream.
- You clear your mind and end up in a deep meditative state. (Not likely to happen for a beginner, but its certainly possible)

Any of these could certainly serve as a way to pass the time in an enjoyable way. again,if the idea appeals to you.

This is a new idea I am thinking about... What if I drug myself to sleep everyday? I could sleep for 18 hours or more in a broken car (big so you have enough space to be comfortable), wake up just to eat something and watch the years pass by. If I get to 67, they will give me the minimum amount they give to the elderly (about 400 euro / month). In the meanwhile, I will watch movies, videos, read books, listen to music, be on the Internet... with an Ipad or something like that. The idea is to watch your life pass by until you feel like you have seen enough technology, news, and all you want to see. You would eat just enough to be full.

You may be thinking "but life is not worth living that way". Yes well, nowadays I prefer to sleep all day instead of playing videogames with my rig or do something else, so to me the only issue would be to be comfortable.

Does this make any sense?
this feels like what I've been doing for the past few months

I do that on bad days. Knock back some sleeping tablets and just sleep.
