Though I do get the desire for revenge as well, I think free will and moral responsibility are nonsense so no one really deserves anything and everyone's ultimately a victim. No real sense in torturing someone for having had bad luck.

I have seen The Purge films and if you re-read my last post I said your idea of vigilantism isn't far removed from The Purge, as in your idea of lynching has parallels with the films. I thought about this too. But somehhow I thought this topic was too touchy. I don't want to encourage anyone. Even if I thought yes they should maybe I am wrong. Then I would be the evil guy.
Moreover I would try to differentiate not all pedophiles are criminals. I read heartbreaking stories in this forum of people who said that they hate their sexuality and they would never hurt any children.

If you look at my posts I wasn't actually saying this, I was talking about how the general discource goes, and this thread is no exception. I haven't seen anything that provokes such a strong reaction in random people as pedophilia does.

The outrage competition that ensues whenever pedos are mentioned has always been off-putting to me. It's too obvious or common of a view to beat one's chest about. It comes off kinda comical. But I guess some allowance is due for people that have personally dealt with it.

I can't answer, in regards to 'should' (how would I say this?) - but if such a suicide were to happen, and my feelings on this situation were asked: I would feel the same level of empathy as I do for any other human being. Perhaps I'm not capable of making differences, or perhaps it's simply that I 'see' on a soulful level. People go a lot deeper than the surface, and things are never black-and-white (?). More of a larger perspective, perhaps? Even then, it is not my place to make judgment. (This topic is very interesting to read, though - thank you.)

It's a western thing though. In the east it's a lot less of a sensitive issue and there's plenty of pedo-ish content in mainstream media. My parents told me that they were approached by a magazine (known for vaguely suggestive photos) and wanted me as a model when I was 10. They didn't take the offer, but I had a classmate at the time who bragged about modeling for a similar magazine. Parents usually don't make the sexual connection, they're just happy their kids are getting attention. A rather different view on the question.

Sure, they can CTB, I really don't care. I've given up on the idea of vengeance, no amount of torture can spark empathy in someone who is selfish and soulless enough to earn themselves one of those labels. I suppose the only exception is those who kill in self defense or some such, but I personally wouldn't label them murderers. Similarly, I don't hate pedos who supposedly never act on it. I'd rather they seek help.

The unfortunate reality is that even if pedos collectively vanished from the planet, children would still be abused in that one specific way. It took me a long time to wrap my head around, but that kind of desire is not necessary for someone to commit such an act. It's not always about desire. Sometimes it's about violence, control, dominance, humiliation, or something else, and their target is merely whoever is accessible and vulnerable. In a weird way, learning this calmed my hatred for pedos a little.

I feel like sadists and murderers deserve the same hatred, but they don't get it, and I don't know why. People talk about Jack the Ripper and Samuel Little like they're mythical creatures. Some serial killers are so detached from basic empathy, they won't claim murders that they didn't commit "out of respect for the real killer" as if it's some kind of sport. It's hard for me to believe these people are human.
