I've been getting my affairs in order and I feel like my loved ones deserve an explanation and a final goodbye. I've thought about how I should go about writing a suicide letter, and I'm not sure if I should write a singular suicide note with a more general goodbye or individual notes that are more personal/intimate.
I'm worried they'll compare notes amongst themselves and over analyze my words, or focus too much on the explanation...

Any help or opinions would be appreciated

Hi!
I think it depends a bit on the type of friends and family you are giving the notes/note to.
For example if you have like a good relationship with them and stuff maybe they would appreciate their own separate note yk? Since it would maybe make them understand more if you write it in a way just catered to them. (i just reread your thing and this was kinda what you said 🄲 sorry im a bit stupid)
If you specifically say that they shouldn't over analyze then I think that they might not, hopefully yk! I dont think it can be fully prevented though sadly :/
One note would be okay too, in the end its all up to you and I think that whatever you end up choosing will be the right choice. I believe they will be really happy that you even considered to leave a note.
You seem like a really nice person for like even taking the time to ask this! Stay safe :smiling: (Sorry if this was a bad reply!! And sorry for grammatically errors and stuff english is not my first language)

Thanks for the reply! I'll probably end up writing individual notes so I can go into detail about that person's (positive) impact on their life, and how I'm sorry for leaving them. Or, I could write a main note with only the explanation and apology, as well as separate, heartfelt letters only focusing on the good.
Also, your reply was well written, and your english is clear! Be proud of yourself for knowing multiple languages :-)

Since 2023 I have been writing suicide letters. 20 pages of explanation that I update + a summary of everything + an audio version + a long list of people to notify + all the material things for my funeral, apartment + advance directives + my will + phone numbers, forums, or people so they don't feel too isolated.

I plan to write two versions of suicide note: one for my personal blog for my friends and everyone else and another which I'll leave in place for my parents.

It's probably depends. Sometimes one note is enough.

You seem to have everything very thought out, I hope it isn't too taxing on your well-being. šŸ«‚
I own very little and don't mind what will happen to my body, so I haven't written a will.

This seems like a good idea, especially if your friends don't have contact to your family or are long distance... thinking about what you said, it really does depend since everyone's situation is vastly different

I'll just leave a notebook documenting my descend into madness and how I felt everyday, I feel like everyone that truly cherishes me would probably read it to the end. That should provide them some peace of mind and insight as to why I decided to end the way I did...

I personally don't want to leave individual notes because I feel that might give them the idea that they might've been able to change my mind? Dunno if that makes sense
I'll let them decide whether they want to read it or not.

For everyone else, well they won't care enough to actually feel any guilt so they'll get over it quickly
