September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day! What are your thoughts on this special day?

I have seen no mention of it outside of this forum tbh. But what are you doing to celebrate this special day? Haha

Don't really have any thoughts and don't think our society can really prevent suicide without addressing serious socioeconomic issues. So it might be more of a platitudes thing than actual help.

they prevented me from ending my suffering from, benzo withdrawal by locking me up in a mental hospital for 90 days because i wouldn't take abilify. i became homeless because i wasn't able to pay my rent. i;m still suffering and i should kill myself on that day. they should call it "preventing you from ending your suffering day" what bullshittt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy suicide prevention day :) for me this day means a lot as my last attempt was exactly a year ago, partly (obviously not the main reason why I attempted) driven by wanting to prove people how ironic it is for them to celebrate this day just for formalities when in fact they couldn't even see or acknowledge how those suicidal people (including myself) feel. Hopefully life can get slightly easier and I can keep on looking back to how far I've grown…
