Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

I want to slash some wounds, as a symbolic ritual of self-hatred.

But I don't want to be a dumbass and end up in the hospital for stitches or infection.
Where do I cut, how deep? Do I just wing it and roll the dice, or is there a technique?
It would also be great if the wounds don't impact my ability to write, run, or use the five senses, but I understand why it's called "self harm". I just want the pain as an outlet.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Putting some rubbing alcohol on a clean paper towel or cloth and wiping down the goal area and the blade used can be a pretty good start

Covering any SH with something clean, I've used bandages, clean old shirts, sometimes other things and it seems to work okay

If it's deep/split open then add a layer of petroleum jelly around the edges and cover with a bandage, change every 8-12 hours rinsing between change and using soap around the edges (not in it) then more jelly and cover again. Maybe overkill but if you're really worried it'll usual get you by

Keep in mind, not medically trained, these are just general things that I've done to keep infection away. Others may have better tips :3

In addition to the above always, always use a sharp blade and very gentle pressure.

Don't go past the fat layer (bean-y and yellow) as that's where nerve damage occurs, also let the wounds air out once in a while, be careful with razor blades as they bend and slit deeper than you intend to, stay safe
Also, sorry if the images r graphic, I would suggest staying away from the areas highlighted in red Untitled30 20260806090916 Untitled30 20260806091026

Generally it's safe as long as you do not cut into the fat layer, of course everything can get infected regardless, but when cutting only up to the membrane that separates fat from the white layer of skin, or cutting into the membrane but not further, it is generally not as damaging as cutting into the fat at all
