Idk if crossreferencing other sites is allowed, but ye here we go. Please don't do anything to the OG post. It just makes me angry and I hate healthcare.

Ok here's the post: IMG 6095

They always like to overmedicate you to get you to behave for one. And everyone is calling for discharge probably because they're tired of this guy, they don't really care in the end. Honestly social work people get shit wages so I don't blame them.

And one of the comments is like, "the nurses and social workers want you to discharge because they don't have liability, but we (the poster is a physician) do" which is so gross. God.

I mean I honestly don't know what I would do if I was the physician in that scenario. We obviously don't live in a society where prescribing assisted death for untreatable mental illness is accepted or even legal yet, so based on the image, it seems like the physician was trying their best to help the patient with the tools they had. I don't see anything malicious here.

I guess that's the problem here, that we can't prescribe assisted death and I can't think of anything that could've been better now that you say it like that 😞

I'd say the other physician's comment was what ticked me off the most, just worrying about how much of a liability the dude is :/

Yeah it's a little insensitive but I would be worried too if I was a doctor and my medical license was on the line. I feel horrible about the patient, hope he finally got relief from his torment.

i hate when psych professions talk behind patients' backs like they arent humans. why tf are you posting this on reddit? talk to your treatment team tf??

as someone who worked as a psych tech in a long term facility (mostly individuals who are now wards of the state; aka 'no one wants them'), the nurses (who got paid way more than me just to sit behind glass) would just talk shit all shift. talk about how so and so did this and it was CRAZY. "this one wouldnt take their meds and i wanted to strangle them" just shit like that.

i hate this field and i honestly dont know if i could handle potential future coworkers like those kinds of people.

The guy clearly doesn't want treatment, but modern healthcare dictates the docs need to beat them into submission in order to keep their livelihoods, this guy just has too much soul to beat. We effectively become paychecks and numbers to them in the end. They don't care about shocking you or pumping countless chems into your body, so long as you act right and get them paid. Many times have I heard stories of healthcare "professionals" insulting suicidal people for making their jobs harder, scum of the earth behavior. I feel terrible for him, I hope he gets out and finds his peace soon.

It disgusts me that they talk about people who are INDIVIDUALS like they're some kind of science experiment. Some people are so severely mentally ill/debilitated that there's no options for recovery for them no matter how many medicines you use to lobotomise them them or how much you try to gaslight them with nonsense like cognitive behavioural therapy. Someone with a real psychiatrist understanding should have the cognition to understand somd people are so debilitated that life is not worth living. And even then, you'd think someone who specialises in sympathy would respect someone's decision to CBT especially if they're in agony and are repeatedly trying to CBT. The evil of this society knows no bounds, I would relish to see it all burn.

I tried some therapy at a state or city funded place and I could see they despise their patients, absolutely hate them and try to screw with them any way they can. I got a copy of my notes and it was the most derogatory, hateful abusive thing I've ever read. I have tried a few other times and it's always the same, just some hateful superior acting jerk working for a paycheck. They never help anyone.

So while everyone screams we need more mental health care available that's all bull. What we need is to offer what a few other countries do that would really help, which is physician assisted self deliverance.

This is why I hate capitalism. It has rendered healthcare as a competition and a business. This reads like a transaction rather than a mutual care service. Under this model, patients are viewed as objects or possible lawsuits. It's dehumanizing.
