I'm planning to buy some new polyester ropes but the recommendations so far branching from 6mm to as high as 20mm.

I'm a 1m65 90kg Asian man (yes I'm built like humpty dumpty lol).

Afaik, dockline, about 1/2 inch thick is suggested.

About thumb thick.

In my opinion, a rope between 10 and 16 mm is fine. 12-14 mm (or 1/2 inch) is a good choice in most cases, and given your weight, it would be suitable for you too. You can go a couple of millimetres thinner or thicker if you feel like, it's unlikely to make a huge difference in terms of effectiveness.
