Hello everyone. I've been on this site off and on for a while now and by no means am a pro navigating the threads so I apologize if this has been asked before. Does anyone have a rope and know suggestion for full suspension hanging? I have a floating staircase that will support the load but am curious what rope to buy and what the most effective knot is. Thank you.

I know the best knot to do is a slipknot. I think any ligature that is strong but too elastic will work.

I hadn't explored it too much, because I don't like the idea of hanging, but would one knot like so be good enough, do you think: https://www.animatedknots.com/noose-knot would work? I saw one person on here who said they tried the slipknot but preferred the noose knot. I have a noose knot, and lemme tell you it cinches in real good. But idk if it will hold. Seems like it will but also when I see nooses they usually have all those circles and are super thick going up.

Also just off the cuff do you know if thickness of rope matters? Mine is only a quarter of an inch, but it feels good. Is it better to have a thicker rope? I ask just because I'm lazy, I know you know stuff, and I'm gonna get to looking at the hanging thread more later to expand my options.

Too elastic? Not is the contrary? I've hear that's better non-elastic ligature, because imagine how hard is to get more pressure in the carotid arteries with elastic ligature, where you have listened to that?

Sorry I didn't answer this sooner, I didn't see it. Well it doesn't matter to ask this question now for him as he has already ctbed with SN and no longer suffering but I will answer this for others.

If you pull down on the rope as hard as you can and it doesn't go undo it should be fine whatever knot you choose. I just know slipknot is best for this.

For thickness I don't know, some say 1/4 inch is good and I have seen others say 1/2 inch is good.
