Hello,
I'm having an issue with my FSH set-up I'm hoping a kind soul on this forum can help remedy.
I've heard of people who lack access to a reliable anchor point for FSH recommended the door method; AKA, hanging a rope tied to a dumbbell through the top of a door, closing the door, and using a noose knot on the opposite side of the dumbbell to hang oneself. In theory, this method supposedly works as the dumbbell should be large enough to keep the rope from slipping through the gap at the top, especially if the door is fully closed.
It's not about the weight of the dumbbell, but rather the size; even a rolled up towel could work.
The problem I'm encountering is I don't know the correct kind of rope to use for this method. The rope I currently own— 12 mm, polypropylene with a core— is too thick and doesn't allow the door to close fully. Even with doorstops, I understand the convulsions from my body would likely be enough to cause the door to open and allow the dumbbell to fall.
Is there anybody here who can recommend me the correct type of rope, including thickness, ideal length, material, etc. to succeed with this method? Is there anything I'm doing wrong here which would result in a failed attempt? Any recommendations to improve my set-up?
I'm sick of living and want an out as soon as possible. Pictured below is my door with the rope hung through the gap at the top. As you can see, the door fails to close fully around the rope, which is what I need to fix.
Please advise, and thank you in advance. :)
