Surely this must have been a suicide attempt that went wrong? ( well obvs 'worked' ultimately but perhaps not in the quick way intended)?! or what else was a plus 50yr old doing up there in the first place, plus at that hour, and with no shirt on, and in those temperatures & HOW on earth did he get up there?! - I know its sad, but I can not help but be captivated & baffled, what a strange (& tragic) & mysterious story! theories anyone?

I have heard some reports saying he may have been drunk, although it's a huge climb not like a 30ft climb is it. Others saying he had mental health issues maybe. Could be suicide as well. Either way horrible way to go and defiantly feel for him and his family.

yeah - like its incredibly tall! and the weird thing was - there was no ladder all the way up! thats why rescuers couldnt simply climb up the same ladder! & he was hanging on by just one boot- sorry you've prob read that anyways, & i know its morbid - but its just - i dunno- like 'wow'-baffling- as I dont think anyone had ever gone up there before, not for like years & years. Poor chap. & poor Family :(
