I wonder if having the pressure relief valve on 5 might be the problem. Maybe it needs to be set higher after the bag is inflated and the air has been purged from the system.
Thanks for sharing this and sorry your experience was foiled by these mechanical issues. I can imagine how defeating that is after working yourself into a headspace of being prepared to make the leap.

I'm just fucking exhausted. was 100% ready to go, had everything set and then this happened. I've been on this thread for over a month sharing my experience and advice to people and didn't even get to leave in peace. hopefully people will see this thread and things will be worked out with Richard so others don't experience it. the nitrogen I did inhale has affected some of my mobility skills as well. it's even harder to function than it was before. the extent we have to go through to get a peaceful exit is ridiculous.

and I apologize if this seems like it's targeted at you, I promise it's not.
I didn't take it that way at all. No one should feel obligated to play designated guinea pig or info hub just for being an early adopter, and you took the time to do that and impart every aspect of the experience. I'd be exhausted (and livid) too if this was the result. I really hope there's some mundane explanation like a small adjustment somewhere instead of some mechanical QC issue potentially affecting untold units.
If someone wants me to address the elephant in the room yes, I impulse bought one of these as a backup method but between my living situation (people not keen on my ctb) and schedule it's been a bitch getting any substantial alone time with this thing to get into granular detail on assembly and prep, and what I did find seemed pretty well covered by you. I hope Richard is able to come through.

I told Richard in my reply email that people on this site were asking questions and there was a thread about the device. it is very tiring having to figure out all the small details about it since the instructions aren't very helpful at all. I'm hoping that it's also something very small.
if this is your backup method then hopefully the first one proves to be successful. once he replies I'll post an update. going to get more nitrogen tomorrow
I tried on the mask and was able to get a seal. That seems to be easy enough. Might tighten the chinstrap some more just in case. I'll probably lay the device out tomorrow and look it over. Zeusman8506 was able to successfully test it and might've even ctb too.

if you have any further info or insight after laying it out please let us know. pretty sure zeusman is gone so now it's just you & I figuring this out.
when did he send this to you? because I did respond and he's obviously talking about me. the bag was on top as instructed. none of this is making any sense.

I'm guessing someone else also contacted Prince Richard mentioning Jacrispy's issue prior to Wildfire. Hence his response to WF. Then he heard from JC soon after. Seems like the logical timeline. (No, it wasn't me)
jacrispy, have you tried inflating the bag while keeping the black cap on and just doing nothing but observing for a few minutes to see if there's a leak?
I've played around with the rebreather twice, using the regulator to inflate the bag with screwed-in nitrogen canisters while keeping the 'Black Cap/Seal' on and the pressure relief valve set at '5'. The bag fully inflated with spare nitrogen leftover in the canisters both times. On the second test, after inflating the bag, I let the device just sit for 10 minutes and the bag was still ~90% full. I then let the rest of the canister's nitrogen into the bag. It was like ~3 seconds of actually filling up the bag, and ~12 seconds of leaking out the pressure relief valve because the bag was overfull. Then I let it sit for 20 minutes. It was ~80% full at the end of 20 minutes, just slowly leaking out the pressure relief valve. It seems like my rebreather doesn't leak except where it's supposed to: the pressure relief valve.

that is what Richard suggested I do. apparently you're supposed to let it sit for a few minutes to let the residual oxygen escape from the release valve so only nitrogen is flowing through. I put the mask on instantly after the gas sounds stopped coming out. I have two more canisters coming and I'll try again on Tuesday. there were definitely no leaks in the device.

I asked about testing the device and making sure it doesn't have any leaks prior to using it to ctb. The instructions are beyond vague at this point and really need to be rewritten and included more visuals.

well god damn. nowhere in the instructions does it say to have two cartridges, other than as a backup. now we're supposed to completely fill it and attach another once it's empty? that is a huge piece of the instructions missing. you're right, the instructions are extremely vague and should be rewritten. it shouldn't take us over a month to figure out a device that claims it's easy to use and can peacefully end your life in just a few minutes.
he really should have, feels like the few of us who are using it are Guinea pigs at this point. it's very frustrating and so many people want answers. you're welcome though, glad only a few of us have to deal with this and questions can be answered

when using the 18g cartridge to end your life, when the first cartridge is empty, replace it with a new, second cartridge before removing The Black Vinyl Cap.
he has to be talking about the nitrogen 18g bottles because the smaller ones are 6 grams each. he is saying to empty one entire cartridge into the bag and attach a second, so the instructions have now changed according to him. in the manual it says to have one as a backup in case something goes wrong, but there's nothing about using a second cartridge.

Well in that case they have 100% changed because I remember that part crystal clear, only backup in the case of 18g. Jesus fucking christ
sorry/not sorry

Imao I have one. Uno. I couldn't fill that bag to sone would be enough to fill the bag but if he is now saying to attach another then that's probably a week or more of waiting for you. it would've been less frustrating for them to ensure the instructions were properly written and everything was correct before shipping the device. over a month of trial and error. if it keeps going like this I'm going to ask for a refund.
