This thread is ONLY for those who 1) must do partial/full suspension hanging, and 2) can only resort to using a tree. I was a professional tree climber and trimmer for 5 years, i trimmed/felled trees away from powerlines all over Wyoming, Utah and Idaho. Just thought id give my best insights...

That branch looks like it's dead and a bit dry. Those can snap unexpectedly. (In contrast, a living branch is more flexible and gives plenty of warning signs before it breaks.) However, if the branch is thick enough, you've tested it, and it feels strong and sturdy, it could be okay even if it's dry — it's hard to tell from the picture.

Noose: It looks like you're using a Noose Knot. Don't forget to add a stopper knot on the tail end. The Noose Knot on its own might slip. Here is how to tie a Noose Knot with a stopper knot: Video_1, Video_2.

I think that rope is going to hurt like hell. maybe that can be mitigated if your closing the arteries also, but Im still going to recommend a more comfortable rope. wider I guess that means. Im myself dont even consider hanging to be sure.
