my plan is similar to yours. i also don't see the point of mixing w/saltynomnom for what have it take effect after im passed out >.<
i have missed the bus because of taking too many bz and wandering off, falling asleep, etc.. so mindful of dosage next time.
The point of propanolol in the PPeH is to prevent increased blood flow from the heart to the brain once one has passed out, not to avoid tachycardia before passing out.
Intuitively, though, since propanolol takes
1 to 2 hours to reach peak blood level when fasted* and since hypoxia (which causes the brain to signal to the heart that it should increase blood flow) occurs quickly after ingesting SN, it makes sense to take it ahead of time.
The problem, however, is that propanolol lowers blood pressure, so it will make you feel very dizzy. The dizziness won't take long to appear, considering the large dose (400 mg) — only the time for your blood level to reach the level it would be at if you were to take a normal dose of 40 mg, so about 5 to 10 minutes in. Not only will it be uncomfortable, but it may well make you vomit once the nausea from ingesting SN kicks in. This is probably why the PPeH does not recommend taking it ahead of time.

the elderly are at the higher end of the range.
