Query regarding ligature during hanging

Hey guys,

Im just wondering can I use shoelaces as a ligature to hang myself with or will shoelaces be too narrow to stop the blood flow to my brain?

Should I use a thicker ligature?

Im asking this question because I've read contradictory and conflicting information (both on this site and other sites) regarding the effectiveness of using shoelaces as a ligature during a hanging attempt.

All answers and opinions welcome.

They are very strong and durable so they definitely wouldn't break under my weight but I'm just wondering that because they are not as thick as a rope that someone would normally use to commit suicide, they might not effectively compress the carotid artery. This is my concern.

Is my concern valid or would shoelaces (even thin ones) definitely compress the carotid artery?

I just dont want to waste my time and effort using shoelaces to hang myself if it's not going to work

I mean it's not what's recommended but then on sites with death videos all sorts of things get used. Thin rope, scarves, linen, all sorts of things.
I don't know if anyone can say definitely though. I've tried with recommended size rope before and it's still tough
