• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

My friend was worried about me and sent me to her psychologist that she really liked. Another friend of mine who was at rock bottom and was about to CTB recovered, went to him and recommended him to me as well.

I didn't have my hopes up, but I also didn't go assuming it wasn't going to work. I went in the mindset that I should at least give it a shot. That maybe there is hope. I told him everything I was feeling, the bullying, the abuse, the trust issues, all the diagnoses I already have, how healthcare in the US neglected me. He just looked at me, unsure of what to do. He would sometimes go "hmm" or nod but usually he'd sit in silence, thinking of what to say or do. In the end he prescribed sleeping medication saying it will at least help me quiet my brain and go to sleep and feel at least slightly refreshed when I wake up.

I know psych isn't a magical cure for everything, I didn't expect to be magically healed in one session. But I've never seen a psych not know what to do about my case.

Honestly, I appreciate him being honest in his reactions in not knowing what to do. I prefer that to the US where they treat me like a child and tell me to do "breathing exercises" or making me write in worksheets about how the "anxiety won't win!" or telling me that the "it gets better" fairy will come and visit me while shoving pills down my throat.

I'm tired.

Therapy and psychiatry has failed so many. I think the most damaging part is the loss of hope. Personally if I had any I wouldn't be on this site, I hope you can find it somewhere, I'm sure you'll survive if you do, take care and much love your way.

Most psychologists actually aren't trained to help with complex issues like these.
It feels like they should be, because they study psychology for so damn long, but unless their specialty is specific for diagnoses like MDD, C/PTSD, autism, etc, they're only going to be helpful to those with "normal people problems".
It sounds like you still have some hope, so I suggest you try finding a psychologist who's speciality does include your diagnosis, otherwise you'll just be wasting time and money.
Do take into consideration, that sometimes (and in my experience it's more often then not) even those who specialize in certain fields might turn out to be completely useless, much like the one you described in your post.
Please don't think of it as proof that you're the problem, or any other negative thoughts about yourself you might've gotten after that session.
