PSA: Double check 'washed' dishes

The bowl appeared clean after washing, was rinsed out by me too... and after eating a nice fried meal, I got a trace of residual soap or smth.

just a PSA to double check so it doesn't happen to u.

(I can imagine some new users asking questions on 'dishwashing liquid ctb'... eww no, my guess is one will clear their stomach and feel bad for a while... and the trace I accidentally consumed is luckily not enough for even nausea)

Fun fact: dish soap makes a not-so-lovely laxative. Too much residue and your food is going to move through you real fast.

I feel like an obvious point has been missed... if your "washed" dish isn't clean, then it hasn't been washed... it has only been "washed."

This would be true of clothes and hands as well. If you wash your hands, and then still have dirt on them or under your nails... then you didn't wash your hands properly.

The point of washing is to make something clean... if it wasn't clean, then you didn't finish washing it.

yep, that's what the quotes were for. I didn't wash off the soap as thoroughly as I thought I did. Next time rinsing a little extra just in case.

I knew a guy who seemed like he washed his hands, but any time I ever paid any attention to him, he always (and I do mean always) had black under all of his fingernails. And this wasn't a guy that worked on a construction crew or garbage detail or some other job where you might have semi-permanent dirty hands while you work... I don't even know how he could get that much stuff under every single fingernail unless he just never washed them.

Same guy also could have lunch, wash his hands, and somehow still have mustard from his sandwich... on the BACK of his hand! Like, how did he even get mustard on the back of his hand in the first place? But it would survive the hand-washing.

Randomly... years ago, but I was still in my 40s, so not a young guy anymore... I was in a restaurant bathroom washing my hands before dinner. I hadn't even used the bathroom, just went in there to wash my hands. An older gentleman came into the bathroom while I was there to do the same thing himself, and he actually complimented me on my hand-washing. I thanked him because it was a genuine compliment... but as I left, I thought how sad it was that this man must have seen so many people not washing their hands very well that he was so delighted to see me washing mine with some intent that he felt he had to compliment such a rare unicorn event!

It also makes me think... every time I see one of those "Employees Must Wash Hands" signs I go through the following thoughts:

1. That sign is there for a reason. Enough employees weren't doing it to prompt the sign.
2. Customers conclude it doesn't apply to them, and so aren't at all moved by the reminder to wash theirs.
3. Who is that sign really intended for anyway? Any employee who needs to be told to wash their hands after using the bathroom, is not likely to read the sign, follow it even if they do read it, or care to do it very well.
4. For the employee that had to be reminded to wash their hands, I have no doubt there are countless other just as bad things they do while handling food that there are not signs posted to redirect them, so this might just be polishing the turd.

yep, and it usually worked for me too, tho somehow that rinse must have missed a spot or not been as thorough, and I didn't notice

Before my family got a new dishwasher recently the other one was so old and would leave food residue coated to cups sometimes, like little flakes. It was clean but not clean and we had to rewash dishes a decent amount after a certain point.
