Sources that dont require proof of being a school or whatever? So far im seeing chemisty sites that say needs proof and sites that the purity is low. But hey maybe I'm not looking i guess if you say so!

Heeding the advice of this thread I just purchased some "just in case". Not my preferred method, but for 30 bucks its a good backup and if it's not legit, at least I'm only out 30 bucks.

Your post just affirmed my decision to CTB with S. I'm finally in a location where I've been able to order x2 50g bottles. I was on track to making this year a great one, but this opportunity after years of searching was too important for me to pass up. Was supposed to be moving countries in a couple months so my CTB plans have been fast tracked because of what you mentioned in your post.

63gm Nitrous Acid (HNO 2 ) + 40gm Sodium Chloride (NaCl) ========== Sodium Nitrite (NaNO2 + HCI)
A mixture of aluminium powder and sodium nitrate heated for 40 minutes will also yield sodium nitrite.
Another method which makes a very pure product is reacting nitrous acid with sodium hydroxide.
You can make nitrous acid by combining dinitrogen trioxide with pure water.
This post is only for research purposes, don't actually do any of this. You need a good understanding of chemistry first.

The shelf life issue is only if it's exposed to air, correct? My date is 5/18/23. Anyone have advice on how to make it keep that long? I plan to take it in it's original packaging and put it in a lockbox for safety.

I wouldn't be surprised if the purchase of PURE SN was made very difficult. Curing salts would likely still be legal to purchase - curing meats takes more than just pure SN, only roughly 6% of the curing mixture is SN. People who want to die via SN would be forced to eat large quantities of curing salt (instead of pure SN) and that is a FAR less pleasant and painless experience, and wouldn't be chosen by many.
My little business mind keeps considering buying large quantities of SN to redistribute once it becomes difficult/impossible for average consumers to purchase, but I'm not going to.
