I recall there being a "Start Chat" button on other user's profiles alongside the "Start Conversation" button, but the "Start Chat" button has disappeared since a week ago.

If you click on a user name in the chat room, theres an option to send a private chat message, but you can't see them.

There are various technical issues that are going on at the moment (some resulting from DDOS's stuff) that Rain and others are looking at.

We know that some users can't access the start chat button (myself included) we are working on it, we will let you know with updates soon.

Noticed I can't even change my avatar, it says there's an error every time I try. I assume that's part of this problem ?

lol that doesn't work either.... I signed out to file a ticket (signing out is the only way you can seemingly do it since it doesn't appear when you're logged in) so then i went to the page and every time i tried submitting the complaint all it does is say i didn't do the CAPTCHA (note that there is no CAPTCHA on the page at all...so idk how in the world id be able to solve something that doesn't exist)

Can't you just like idk fix the avatar problem without me having to use another broken area of the site? I just had this account for a few hours and I'm new here it would be cool to have a avatar

This can be caused by an Adblocker or similar extensions like 'uBlock Origin', and the 'Trace' extension.

I have been using the conversation functionality for a time now, and it actually works fine.

Maybe better than the private chat functionality? No pressure to instantly respond partly due to the way it works.
It's pretty much the same as how you'd use the forum. You're not guaranteed to receive a response within a given time and that's fine.

I found the private chat confusing at times, because you couldn't see whether the other person was online or not.

I'm not too knowledged with how the messaging on here works since I dont think I have a post count high enough to send messages just yet, but hopefully that'll get fixed as well before I get up there

I don't think you need to worry about it.
The "start chat" button was gone since a while ago. I think most people are aware of it.

• Search bar is broken
• Visiting any persons profile and checking the "posts" tab (not latest activity, but posts) always gives you an "error has occurred" message

We know its an issue, I cant give you a time frame unfortunately, apologies these issues keep occurring and that you have to wait.
We do have to juggle a lot, and we are doing everything we can.
