You can't just click on the "Chat" link on the left of the screen, and then click on "Private Conversations" from the main chat window?

I can't get it to work and if I do most of my chat is gone. Now the chat button under the persons name has disappeared.

It's been every member I tried to chat with. Now it's working but I tried to start a chat with someone else and the whole chat button was gone. Sometimes a whole chat disappeared. This has been in the past few days.
