Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I see alot of fear around hospitals and going to them, and I'm just curious if anyone has positive stories they'd like to share

(some notes for context, I live in Australia so health care is generally free(medicare+hcc)I just wanted to add this because I don't want to invalidate anyone's bad experiences or reasons not to go, I'm aware that there are alot of places where either care is not always free of charge, or worse there are social stigmas around mental health)

Personally I have not been admitted or seen by a hospital, but my someone I knew was(will refer to as Jane from here on(not her real name)). I was with her every step of the way and they were very nice, a nurse came into the ER waiting room and took us into the family room so we wouldn't have to be out there, asked a few questions and then a psychiatrist came in to talk to Jane. It was all calm and he didn't seem to want to force any one route and genuinely listened, he ended up giving her some medication to assist with sleeping, both at night or if she felt she needed a break and wanted to sleep. By the time we left the plan they had laid out was for her to visit them I think once a week until they thought they could no longer be of assistance, along with a daily call to make sure she was doing okay. I think the care ended after around a month and they transferred her to a psychology practice

I've been at the mental hospital three times now and it's always been great. I'm here again right now. I live in Germany though, our health care is pretty good.
The first time I was here, I made some really great friends. We got together pretty much every evening for a "chocolate milk round", where we'd drink chocolate milk and everyone talked about their day.
The most trivial, everyday things were being celebrated, because everyone knew we all got different struggles and what may seem like nothing to someone, can be a huge deal for someone else.
I remember one time another patient with really bad anxiety came back from a practice round of grocery shopping, with the brightest smile ever, telling us that she got everything she needed from the store and didn't even have a panic attack. We all cheered and hugged her, celebrating her accomplishment for the rest of the evening.

Aside from the other patients, the staff was great too. On the other two instances I was here, I was assigned two amazing therapists, who took my struggles seriously and worked WITH me to find a fitting diagnosis, because I voiced that it was very important to me to put a name on what's going on. The nurses are usually very caring but left me alone for the most part, which I appreciated. Whenever I did need something, they were always there to help.

I can really only encourage people to at least try a mental hospital once, if they're struggling. It's usually not as bad as people say. It's done wonders for me, personally.
