Lets imagine there is an official experiment and a peaceful death is guaranteed and there is an experimental setup to discover what really happens with someone in the crucial moments of death and the goal is to discover whether there is "energy or a soul" leaving the body" is possible or not. Would you be a voluntary to this experiment?

The only thing that makes this idea convincing is the part about a peaceful death.

I don't think scientists would actually try to discover such things, but I would love to donate my body anyway due to several rare mutations I have.

If it meant that I got to leave this world in a peaceful way and prevent all future unnecessary suffering then of course. I would always prefer to die peacefully on my own terms and if I was free from everything then it isn't like I could be concerned by any experiment anyway.

This would be a great premise for a sci-fi story or movie. It wouldn't be for me, tho. I don't want to be studied while I go thru the last moments of life.

I mean- not right now. I don't think my Dad would be very happy about it. But- after he's gone- sure. As long as they know what they're doing. As long as they have a backup plan- if the initial dose doesn't work. I'd ask that anywhere though- in an assisted suicide clinic too. I presume they do have procedures if things don't go to plan.

I found this question/poll/thread to be interesting because it made me think about the controversy when it comes to research in cryogenics

That's a good point here! I didn't think of this one! Thanks. But yeah "temporary dieing" whether this is a good idea or not that is to be discussed!

Honestly depends on the experiment, if it was for like neurolink or whatever then absolutely the fuck not, but if it was something that could actually benefit humanity in some way then yeah, sure, especially if my partner would get compensated for it

They've already been studying the chemical and neural changes in the brain that cause the hallucinations that make up an NDE but it's complex and controversial to research.

I think most (non-religious) scientists would agree there isn't a soul, we lose energy to the surroundings as heat (death chill) after our heart stops, and we lose chemical energy by decomposition afaik.

Yes, why not. I don't really care what they'll be doing with me as long as it's guaranteed that I won't feel any discomfort during the process.

Absolutely. Peaceful ending is what I want anyways. Whatever they'll do with my ceased corpse wouldn't matter anymore. Maybe I'll be useful if they discover something.

Science is one of the few things I have actually enjoyed in my life, it may be scary but there is sort of a beauty to the unknown which is why I would like to go out this way.
