Hi everyone,

So i am currently planning to ctb via carbon monoxide poisoning, and i want to know if any of you have tried with a BBQ in a car?
I would like to use a small bbq that fit in the backseat but i dont know if its going to be enough charcoal.
Also, i have never used a BBQ so im afraid to mess up ( because i cant do anything right). Whats the usual procedure to start a charcoal bbq?

Thanks in advance for your support.

This is also the method I will be using. I would be very cautious about putting hot charcoals in your car - it may cause a fire. You can use a tent which is safer.

It can work. Some have had success with this method.

That's the $100,000 question. CO with charcoal is one of those methods where more is best. Ideally, one would have a meter capable of measuring CO concentration levels, but I understand that is out of the reach of many. Ideally, in order to be as quick and painless as possible, it is desirable to achieve levels of CO at, or above, 10000 PPM, which should result in unconsciousness in a few breaths, and death within a few minutes.

It's best to use chimney starters. Ideally, you want to let the charcoals burn to a point where they are red/white hot before moving them into the car. At that point they are emitting the most CO gas and the impurities in the charcoal have burned off, impurities that would only make the entire ordeal more uncomfortable because you would be breathing in all of the noxious impurity gases in addition to the (desired) CO gas. The car vents should be sealed off, as well as any other area that can be, like under doors and such. It is easier to use a tent than a car. Just throwing that out there.

Here's a chart showing levels of CO concentration along with their expected results with respect to unconsciousness and death.

Yes you are right, 10000 PPM is the quickest and least painful way, this is what i want. But apparently it is difficult to attain that concentration, even in tight spaces like a car. So im kinda worried it's going to take longer than 3 min and someone finds me :/

Isn't a tent also very flammable? Also, i have no idea how to install a tent cause im useless. And where should i put my tent? Should i go camping in the wild?

The more leak-proof the enclosure, whether that is a car, tent, or small room, the easier to get to a level like that. Of course, obviously, you need to burn enough charcoal to reach that amount. That's why a meter is so important, so you can conduct some tests and determine what amount will get you there.

Most are high enough so as not to pose a problem. Most of the ones today just "pop" right up into formation. Not much to it. If you just keep your bucket(s) of charcoal near the floor on some bricks, you should be fine. I can't answer where you should put a tent should you decide to use one. There can be risk about doing it in the "wild" as you say. Better make sure no one else is around, plus you have to lug everything with you. For me, I'm going to put it up right in an empty bay in my garage. I have no worries of anyone discovering me.

If I were doing CTB by CO in a car, or even a tent, and didn't have meter, I wouldn't hesitate to use 4 or 5 good size buckets of burning red/white charcoal in my chosen enclosure. I can't guarantee you'd be successful with this. One thing to remember is that a failed CTB with charcoal can be really devastating to your health and could screw you up so much that you'd be unable to even try another CTB ever again. You can get severe brain damage from a failed attempt, as well as other physical issues you'd be dealing with for the rest of your life. If you're not comfortable doing it, my advice is not to do it then.

There are pop up tents with no sticks , they are so easy to install , look at the video in the link

To add little more , you need to seal the seam with that and maybe some regular duct tapes so no CO can escape. Do some test run without you in it and place a CO meter inside to see how much ppm you reach. Then after that you are good to go, find a remote place so nobody will save you.
Use benziodiazepine to calm your nerves if you can access them and tylenol and painkillers against headache might give you more comfort. That's my way to go by the way , i love the smell of charcoal , i will have a glass of SN beside me just in case i wake up or maybe i will drink it as the CO does his effect.

Thank you so much for the input. I think i will go with a tent instead of a car. And yes i am aware of the severe consequences of messing it up, so i will do a couple test runs. :)

Doing it in a car is very risky to be found , with a tent , you can go very deep in a wood and most likely , you will never be found , i live in Canada and when im ready im going way up north and nobody will save me and find me.
