I'll be going by SN and have meto and pain medicine with me (likely Tylenol 3 if I can't get a stronger benzo)

This is a dumb question but is there a way to protect my cause of death from being publicized before I CTB? I live in a small town and have seen suicides in the paper before. Not that I care since I'll be dead anyways, but I'm worried about my family taking on that public shame.

Also, would factory resetting my phone prevent the police from going through it? Discovering my time on this site? I plan on writing a letter and sending a timed email out a day later to explain everything and answer why I decided to end things…

I don't know where you live, but if in the US there's probably nothing you can do about press coverage in a newspaper. Death is considered public information, if indeed they find it newsworthy. Personally, I don't think there is shame to be cast on your family for your ctb, but then again, I don't know where you are, or your culture. I think there is software you can download that will do a better job at sanitizing your phone than simply resetting it. I think it writes things over and over on to it to prevent any pieces of data from being recovered, if that is a worry to you. Don't the phone companies store, at least for a while, everything that we do on our phones on their servers? You don't have control over that ,if it is the case. Electronics are designed to leave trails for all kinds of reasons. I'm not sure how far LE would go to find out information if your death is ruled an obvious suicide.

I'm in Canada but yeah I figured there'd be no real control of privacy which sucks. I'd like to go in my home since I don't think it would be publicized but I definitely would be found since I live with family. Hotel is the way to go but I'm certain it would make a scene ugh.

Yeah, even if you traveled to a larger town, say Toronto, I'm sure the story would make it back to your small town, maybe even more assured, and it would certainly end up in your local newspaper. Even here in the US, something like this is really out of anyone's control. You know, that pesky freedom of the press thing. I think if you live in a larger town here in the states, like Chicago, where there are lots of murders, you would stand a better chance of a suicide not making it into the newspaper. You guys don't really deal with all that like we do here. Seems like a juicy story of a local's suicide would be fodder for the news people.
