I wish I understood them better, why they have never thought about it. I have a friend like that. He told me he would never take his own life, even if he lost part of his body or had a life like my life. Have you encountered people like this ? Is that because they had/have a good life or is it something else in their psyche ?

I cannot understand them either, how someone does not find themselves thinking of suicide at least once in their lives? How are people okay with the absurdity of being conscious?
I still think everyone must have thought about suicide at least once in their lives but they are hiding the fact. They sometimes joke about life being too tiring but they never talk about suicide.

Chronic/long-term depressive disorders have major effects on brain development and typical brain behavior, so I think it becomes difficult to see their perspective because many people here have significantly different brain chemistry from the type of person you are describing. People who are more philosophically suicidal tend to look at things from an uncommon perspective compared to generally accepted thoughts, so many people wouldn't allow themselves to go down that line of reasoning.

I've read somewhere that it's at least 20% of people who seriously considered suicide at some point in their lives. The media likes to portray suicidal ideation as something very uncommon.

They are very fortunate to have healthy brains
I often wonder why is this considered healthy? Who ever said we should want to be alive? Humans developed this delusion that life matters for everyone. And while I wouldn't deny that it might for some, I fucking hate that it's assumed a bad thing if you want to get the fuck out of this hellscape experience. It just makes me sad that status quo tells us it's wrong to want to die, that if we really want to then our brains must need fixing. And that makes it that much harder to leave with dignity.

I do have periods of normality, the depression is like a wave.. sometimes there and sometimes gone. More often there than not though.

I'm not sure if it's better to be suicidal all the time or have periods of good mental health.

In the good times, we are less focused on ourselves and get to see the joy and wonder of life. When the depression hits its just me, me, me what about me and how I feel, screw everyone else.

It's complicated for sure. Sadly, I do think I am in the untreatable class.

I cannot understand people who say they are normal and in good mental health if they want to CTB. How someone can think a healthy mind would want to kill itself just seems insane to me.

I spoke with some guy recently who said he never had suicidal thoughts ever in his life until a family friend passing recently
For the first 28 years of his life = no suicidal thoughts. So fortunate to have a brain that doesn't dwell on suicide
