Hi guys

My most thought about ctb method has been partial hanging as it seems the most accessible. I've been trying with an hdmi cord in my closet but I'm almost never able to pass out. I was getting there once (tunnel vision, chilly arms) but I stood up and I haven't regained that positioning.

Does anyone have any advice for this? Should I switch to a necktie? (Rope is out of the question as I live at home with parents and they would question why I have one)

Is it impossible to hide the rope? Suicide is already never really guaranteed to be successful, and if you're using subpar supplies it won't help your chances...

You can buy rope almost anywhere in the world, it's a common and basic item. I understand your parents finding it being a concern. My mom found a noose in my closet once, lol. But if you're going to do this you should do it right.

If I were you I would probably go through the effort of getting and hiding one. Do you have a car? Keep it under a seat or in your trunk? Otherwise maybe under your mattress? Behind a dresser or piece of furniture in your room?

It's not possible. My parents know I'm in horrible mental health and my mom knows where everything is in this tiny apartment

Alright.

Well, I mean same principles apply to this as any other hanging.

Sounds like the issue is maybe it not "closing" enough? If not you might want to consider lubricating it with soapy water, or some other type of gel, cream, or lubricant. Also make sure to position yourself in a way that enough weight is being suspended on the cord.

This shouldn't be an issue. Proper hanging doesn't have anything to with the adam's apple or other anatomical structures related to the respiratory system, but instead applying pressure to the arteries within the neck and cutting off blood supply to the brain.

Arteries are quite stiff, as their walls are made of muscle. If you are applying enough pressure to yourself via the ligature that it is able to correctly occlude/"close" your arteries, it should definitely be enough to move/push your adam's apple inwards and out of the way.

Maybe consider adding padding underneath the cord (on your neck) above where your carotid arteries are to help focusing compression in that area?

Switching to a necktie is unlikely to make any difference in the end result.

You could try to find a higher anchor point and do it in a standing position. Or you could switch to full suspension – that's near 100% certain as long as the anchor point and the ligature holds.

I've been playing around with partial hanging recently so I'm prepared when I do CTB. Personally I found a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu belt to work really well. The fabric is thick and a BJJ belt is designed to be sturdy and withstand alot of weight and pulling.
I tied one side of it to the doorknob, hang myself from the other side and within about 5 seconds I was close to blacking out with not much discomfort at all. A BJJ belt is also quite cheap and shouldn't arouse much suspicion.
