every time I tried to open up it just made things way worse. I don't blame them for not being magical therapists who can fix all my issues, but why ask what's bothering me if you don't want to help?

I wouldn't call it a "scam" exactly. I think its a well-intentioned but badly mistaken piece of advice based on the fantasy that people aren't fundamentally flawed and self-interested beings.Similar threads
