Venting Always checking in, never checked on

It's not very fair that I always have to check on my friend. I always have to be the one that cheers her up, to ask how life is, to be an open ear, to say how proud I am of her, to send her morning texts to cheer her on in her day.
But in my lowest moments, she never checks on me. I am nothing in her life. She only sends me videos of random things on YouTube but she never (bare minimum) asks how I am, and if I tell her anything, she emotionally shuts down and back off.
Where's my me for me? Shouldn't I have someone like me for me? "It's been a hard week". Cool, I have a rope around my neck while you're never there to talk to check on me or even ask about my work day and what I do at work, but sure, let's talk about how hard life is for you.

i get what you mean. it feels like the moment you stop putting out (for lack of a better term), people forget you exist, if that makes sense.

I'm just a collectable on her shelf. She even said she was going to give me the whole "birthday princess" treatment on my birthday because my birthdays are ruined every year. But guess who paid 100% for everything while she barely let me talk about my life. Me. And anytime I express that I'm upset, she just figures I'm on my period. What the fuck

Distance from her.. Such one way connections are only a drag.
I too have had such a friend. She never checked on me but wanted me to check on her. When i didn't, she messaged me, if there's something wrong between us. I read her message several times to understand if she's being genuine or playing. I gave her a benefit of doubt. But looking back, i feel she was playing because she wanted my friendship as i was famous and resourceful and my friendship would mean direct access to all those resources without making any efforts, with no benefits of any kind to me in return, not even a genuine friendship in return.
