One of my cats was euthanised yesterday…

I had her since I was a child. Then she got kidney failure and started rapidly deteriorating. She was almost 17… I just can't accept that she's gone, I want to cry but the tears wont come, like something is blocking them and forcing me to keep all the emotion inside. She lived a good life and died in my mother's arms, and that thought gives me some peace, and she doesn't have to suffer anymore, but her being gone just pushes me further to CTB. I love her so much and I always will and I just don't know how I will live with her not around anymore. People who don't have pets really underestimate the importance of them. But at least I'm happy that she's at peace and that she had a fulfilling life

I don't have pets right now, but I've grown up with a lot of pets. I still remember bawling so hard at the loss of them. It does come eventually. Most of their lives are short lived unfortunately.


Please take solace in the fact that she lived so long at least. She basically died of old age. But I understand how much you loved her and how much of A comfort she was to you. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry... i know your pain too well.
Last march my dog died, and just one month later my cat too. I've lost another cat in september. The truth is, you die a little bit with them every single time. The only comfort is that you gave her everything she could ever wanted or needed. 17 years is extremely rare and awesome, it shows how well you look after her and loved her with all your being. Thank you for that, honestly. Most people don't cheerish their animals as you do, so you are already one of a kind, wonderful human being.
I can relate to the suicide part too. I think about them a lot, how i want to go after them, to be with them again (eventho I don't believe in afterlife or any of these fairytales). Time will help a little bit... Not too much, because you will always miss them, remember them, cry for them. But it gets a little bit easier, I promise. Give yourself all the space to grieve and to cry as much as you want.
