I have an idea, but I need to know how safe it is. I want to tie a noose tight around my neck and just fall asleep, and with that amount of time, I'll ctb. I've already tied it really tight just to see, and it feels like my head's popping out, but otherwise it seems manageable enough to sleep through. Is this effective, or will I wake up a vegetable?

If you get the exploding head feeling, it means your rope isn't positioned correctly—it's constricting your jugulars and not your carotids. Besides that issue, SI would likely jolt you awake before anything fatal happens.

That's annoying, any advice on constricting my carotids, i've been trying but I can't get it to click

There's some good tips on finding your carotids in this thread. Just go through the replies a bit.

Well tried this last night, here I am.. Not sure if I tightened it tightly enough though…

You may not be applying the correct weight, you should review your position if you chose partial hanging.. Use a knot that adjusts itself (noose knot), and the rope located under the jaw.

Any force greater than 5 kg cause carotid occlusion with consequent cerebral ischaemia, anoxia and loss of consciousness.

When I did that just now, it still makes my head feel like it's popping. In the link you sent, it required 2kg of pressure to achieve that, so should I push my neck down even harder to pass out?

Read carefully the link..

You must block the carotid arteries to achieve unconsciousness and not feel like your head is about to explode.

(Cerebral congestion) Jugular veins by compression with 2kg tension.

(Cerebral anoxia) Carotid artery occludes with 4-5 kgs tension -> This is what needs to be achieved

If you manage to block the carotid arteries, the jugular veins will also be compressed since they are the most exposed..

You'll need to find a position (or better place) where you can apply more of your weight and maintain it over time. Even during the phase where the convulsions begin.. until the end (death)

When you lose consciousness you will no longer be able to push or exert force on your own.

PartialH is tricky for that reason.

What do you think is the ideal setup to do that? My setup is on a bar that I tied an arbor hitch to. I can lean down to push my head forward to add pressure. Im thinking that I tie the rope even higher so that when I kneel, there's more added pressure.

Does that mean you can still tie the rope higher? Isn't it high enough to be completely suspended?

I mean, if you are 100% sure of your decision.. full suspension would be better, since you won't need to worry about finding the right position where you can apply enough weight to compress the carotid arteries. Because you will be using your full weight.

Is this the knot (arbor hitch ) you're talking about?

yup same knot, but I'll try partial today and if it doesn't work, I'll do full.

It is a good and secure knot. You seem determined. I wish you the best in your plans, that everything goes well.
