Please don't hate yourself. You were being selfless in trying to hold on for them but I guess they can't always know what to suggest. I hope you can reconcile with them. I suppose for some people- it's just such a shock and maybe they can't handle it. I'm sorry.

It's just the unfortunate reality that you cannot rely on other people in this world and I find it awful how existing here can very easily get much worse, existing really is so dreadful. But anyway I wish you the best.
