  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at admin@sanctioned-suicide.net.

best environmental post. gotta put it in a SS: best of, sort of thing and get it published. /s

although what I always say is other people are still alive in that process. I couldn't care less whether *I* get killed. lol. if this whole Earth gets nuked then people wouldn't actually fear nothing. cuz they dead. in an instant. no fear for the dead.

but this shit is like chronic illness. I forgot if you said somewhere 'bout having one or not but I guess quite a lot of people here can relate. and that's real tormenting.

so, that's my take on it.
Thank you. For some people, because of the way they're built, CTB is the only way, and I support them! But many people love their lives and love living, and they have the right to that choice just as much as someone has the right to CTB.

'cept it's not like we're "built" that way. no way. no one's built for suicide. countering survival instinct gets talked about enough here. believe me, no one's built for it. disease and social trauma and…there's everything that's pushing us out of equilibrium. not saying living is compulsory. but the suicidal deserves a life too. only then can it be real options. not doing it cuz we got no other choice.

I feel what you're saying. What I meant was that some people are built in such a way that modern life is simply not doable. In the past, huge numbers of young men went to war. Crazy numbers of people died of childhood disease. For the hyper-anxious, this was actually a great time, since your anxiety was justified by real life! Moreover, the constant death of young men meant that there was no "incel" phenomenon. Life was shorter and more brutal, but that's actually how we evolved! Modern life has made it so that people with certain psychologies simply cannot function in society, whereas in the relatively recent past, neuro-atypical people had a definite purpose in society.

Didn't mean to be dismissive at all! What I meant was that people evolved as tribal hunter-gatherers, and modern society leaves out a number of people who would have been super-useful just a couple of generations ago. It's a damn shame. I actually have a history podcast, and I've been thinking of doing an episode about that, but it will be a while yet.

But you're right! The fault lies with society. I'm pro-choice, but generally my instinct is to try to help people get out of their hole. Yet the modern healthcare system's only solution is to institutionalize suicidal people and treat them like garbage. So yeah, if someone's not built for the modern era, and they've been let down by the healthcare system, what option do they have left?

You would like the somewhat obscure pessimist, misanthropist philosophers such as Emil Cioran, Peter Wessel Zapffe, Phillip Mainlander, Albert Caraco, and Ulrich Hortsmann. Many of their works however, specifically the latter three, have not been translated to english.
