i think i'm just too much, as a person. i talk too much, people don't care about the same things i do, people aren't really interested in what i do or say because whatever i actually do is divorced from what everybody else is doing. i feel pretty bad about it but ultimately i'm going to have to clip some parts of my personality off so i'm more appeasing to other people. and, also i'll have to clip off the important parts, so it's not like it's going to be easy.. but it'll be worth it, because people will overall just find me less abrasive and more sweet and precious

i just, don't know where to start, or how to start, even. i just know i need to remove a few pieces of myself..

Sorry if this is unwarranted, but have you ever considered seeing a psychiatrist, meow?

i'm not super interested in therapy either because everything here will just be CBT and not only am i not a fan of it i can just do it at home if i'd like

I think you'll likely need to experience it yourself, but.. they will not. This is gonna tear into the wound, not heal it, and you'll feel that later...

I hope what you're planning works out for you and you find what you need in others then

As skeptical as I am of CBT, I don't think this is true.

But I'm no one to make diagnoses. Do what you think it's better for youself about your mental health, but think about it carefully. Personally I don't know whether trying to change your personality is the right approach.

As of now, I don't think it can really replace an educated, trained professional for serious cases. And this is coming from someone who has developed a certain distrust towards mental health disciplines. But again, I'm only an ignorant moron on the Internet, not really a person qualified to give psychological advice.

the thing about CBT that makes it appealing for me to consider self-therapy instead of a professional is that the progenitors of CBT emphasize how robotic it is, to a fault. they were writing in the 60s, so there was probably less taboo about it, but still. albert ellis writes like this a lot

also as of now? implying it might change in the future?

I've recently seen in the news that our Order of Psychologists, while acknowledging the great opportunies AIs can bring about, expressed preoccupation that people could use them for replacing human specialists and autodiagnosing themselves. Now, apart from the natural desire to protect their earnings and place in society, I think they're genuinely worried about the effects of these new technologies on the mental health of the population, and maybe they're right. But isn't this vision a bit shortsighted? Are their objections bound to stay in the future? With the lightning quick and disruptive development of informatic language models we see everyday, it doesn't seem so far fetched to imagine a near future where a machine will be able to interact with a person in need of mental health advice with more competence, insightfulness, dexterity and efficacy than any human psychologist. It's just a conjecture, of course, and really, I'm talking about stuff I know nothing about. We'll have to wait and see.

Edit: grammar
