Have never booked a hotel room before as I haven't travelled without my parents before (I am mid 20s) but I don't really know how it works. I have been looking at some of the cheap UK hotel chains and apparently you can pay cash but some of them don't let you choose that as an option on the website. Can you usually just go up to a hotel and pay cash for a room that same day? Or do I have to pay online? Scared of being tracked when people notice I'm missing.

hello friend. There is no difference between online payment and cash payment. In both options, your stay is recorded. All kinds of registrations will be made. If you use a fake ID, you will not have any problems.
