Hello, since this doesn't really make me depressed or have any worse thoughts I decided to post it here! It only makes me have kind of sad thoughts from time to time.
Basically, my girlfriend copes with having suicidal tendencies, painful memories and other things like that by suppressing those memories with her increasing amnesia; however, in the process other memories that I find valuable are forgotten by her, even though we made them together :aw:. It really sucks for me, that she doesn't remember the journey we've been through, for example while asked about our first (full) year together she remembered only a few which was kind of unfortunate for me as I remember much more.
We still do indeed love each other, and I will keep supporting her whatever it takes, however this absence of her reflecting on the memories we made together and being nostalgic about things we did together kind of gets to me... 😥 Amnesia is a great way for her to suppress those awful feelings of daily suffering, but it does come with a price. I don't really seek advice, just wanted to let some thoughts out.. however, any suggestions are always welcome, and of course, prayer for her too🙏I really would love her life to become better.. instead of a struggle to keep going and to be accepted by this society that we live in..

You can take a lot of pictures and recordings and retell stuff to her. Could also ask if she can start keeping a journal.

My partner is the same way with her memories and her brain fog doesn't help either. While it does make me a bit sad when these moments happen, I remain understanding and I'm always okay with reminding her about what happened, and I hope that these reminders are able to help her somewhat. My short term memory isn't great but sometimes my long-term memory is very detailed, so I can recall things for her in quite vivid detail.
I agree with Scythe in that you can try asking your girlfriend if she can start to keep a journal. Taking pictures, video recordings, and I think even writing down dates on which something happened in a journal can be helpful and basically create a timeline of memories that way.
Take note of special days and perhaps keep physical reminders of said day, if possible, for you both to look at together. Perhaps an item that was bought, or a piece of giftwrapping. Scrapbooking plus writing down dates said item was bought on.

Her coping mechanism for her pain is indeed valid. I hope that you are able to find a good way to document your experiences together and retell them to your girlfriend.
