I'm in love with the voice acting and the whole style. You could make it big.

There is a future of the world, it just doesn't seem like it right now. But there is.
i've heard every piece of advice there is but there's nothing that's changing the fact that the world is ending. ai is going to take every job, and current news says that like… 40% of the population will die by 2050 because of the projected heat increase. This is not just like some one-off news article i read. i have been a climate activist and spoken with greta thunberg and others in person. like, i have no hope for this planet. i think everyone is going to die.

everyone says "they always thought that it would be the end throughout human history but they were wrong" what if they're not this time? i really don't think they're wrong this time. it's like a boy who cried wolf situation. you say a warning a bunch of times and it doesnt come true, so when it actually happens nobody believes it. 20,000 people have died in Europe in like the last month because of the heat, heat that we knew was coming for years and years prior. and these are first world countries. people are dying in india. the human race won't go extinct, sure, but thats because the elite 1% hoards everything. when they survive and their offspring survive, they'll think "wow humanity is so resilient" but the 99% of us that are going to die cannot say this.

call me weak or something but i just don't want to die a slow and painful death like everyone else. my life has already been hell, i wouldnt want to let it get even worse. at least i can have the dignity of deciding how and when to die. i always thought id die since i was 11, i al ways wanted to die by suicide (though i never really explicitly stated it anywhere) but even if i survived i wanted to die by suicide at like 60. but the world kept getting worse. i attempted at 14, then at 18, 19 and now im 20 (soon to be 21) and i plan to die two weeks before my 21st birthday. its just hard.

im grappling with so many people telling me that they look forward to my next project, im getting international work opportunities that i dreamed of having, someone who works at disney wanted to collaborate with me. i mean, its everything i ever wanted… but how long will it really last? i think the world is going to end no matter how many good things happen right now. i just want to be at peace, im almost itching to die at the soonest opportunity possible.
I just watched your film... twice... and I am absolutely obsessed with it. I should have CTB'd by now but postponed a few weeks. Watching the film has been my favorite moment during these weeks. Thank you so much for your hard work!

I know the film has a lot of symbolism and small details, can you tell me more about any hidden meanings I might've missed?

For everyone reading this, I am curious, would you stay in Suicideland if given the choice? (Personally I would not. The issue causing my original death would probably not disappear if I was there.)

Also, OP, I'm very sorry to hear about the empty feelings you still have, even with your dreams coming true. This world is a cruel place. Hope you keep us updated about how you're doing, if you wish to.
hi! thank you so much. first off, there's the obvious ones with the character designs. every character in suicideland has a design that reflects the way they died. people who slit their arteries have red and white striped sleeves. people who hung themselves get noose-shaped scarves. people who broke their bones get crutches.
i wanted to contrast the two main characters in the ways they died. Amrita dies because of long-term abuse and she dies a similarly slow, painful, and really really statistically unsuccessful death. she was determined to die, even if it hurt her. As for Lola, she dies an instant death by jumping off a building, and similarly her cause of death is also over a relatively more impulse decision after a breakup.

Another fun detail people haven't caught onto is that there is a train that passes in the climax of the film. The name of this train is the Dead Line (like how you have a Yellow Line or a blue Line metro, or an underground line, whatever). I initially wanted Amrita to board this train to travel to the cliff, where she could die her second death and stop existing. But i felt it was a bit too awkward to have her ride a train and broke the flow. So i came up with this idea of the train transporting you by simply passing by you, instead of you riding it. The Dead Line has already passed by. and it transports you to where you want to be.

There is a white butterfly in some parts of the film too, which represents self harm. Drawing the butterfly on is a common method of like, struggling with it. So that's obviously included.

A kind of fun detail that i can't say without getting flagged on YouTube is that amrita has my scars. I kind of drew them on exactly the way I have them.

I'm kind of sleepy, feel free to ask more stuff. this is what's off the top of my head.

Look. You're talking to another YouTuber and I admire that you have come out on here and shared your real identity. They called me "Apocalypto" because I ranted about the end of the world for years, and I also had millions of views but I took down my videos because I realized that I was wrong. There was a song by Bright Eyes that sang "Working on the record seems pointless now... When the world ends, who's gonna hear it?" I'm telling you. The world will change drastically and we are entering a New Age, and we, the people born between 1980-2020 are sadly stuck in the middle of these two ages and it feels horrible and cataclysmic, but the world is not going to end. The current "elites" are not going to rule forever.

Things will get better. Something will happen in the next 10 years that will change everything, I promise you. I envy you for the position you're in because I gave up everything in the name of suicide. I will say it one more time.. I really loved your movie and I can tell that your mind can produce on other subjects that would move people as well. You should take the Disney offer.

Hello. I too will commit suicide soon by Julie's end. I would like to say that I found your film not long ago and that it really struck a chord in me. Something about the idea of an afterlife of completers and a world where you're kind of just, free, eternally, is really great to think about. I suppose suicideland isnt so much about that but the depiction of the two girls together in that sort of limbo was itself very beautiful to me. I dont believe in an afterlife you see so I guess thinking that maybe we could go somewhere and maybe it's quite nice is comforting and maybe if it was a land of completers then it too could be a land of understanding. Lol, I accidently imported sn today and didnt know about the high likelihood of being caught. I gotta try to cancel that or hang myself soon.

Hello, what a happy coincidence !
I watched your animated film 2 days ago and found it beautiful
I know AI is here, this technology is making the world go full dystopia and makes everything worse for everyone.. One day art like yours will be put on a pedestal after many years of slop

WAIT A DAMN MINUTE-

Bro I posted your animation on my account after I found it two days before omllll

I didn't know that you're a SaSu user! I really, really love your film! Thank you for making it.

Take it with a huge grain of salt because I'm not an art person nor do I understand the industry but no AI can channel the feeling your work does.

The world will just get hotter but so what? We're all gonna die anyway 🤷 Then again, your life choices are within your own grasp. I don't exactly know what had happened to you to the point where you entertained dying being the only visible way out now.

A lot of people are definitely going to miss what meaning you can put into their lives through your works. I will. I'm just a stranger who saw one of your works but I will.

ive seen it. but somehow it didnt resonate me and i think that is fine. you can't catch them all

i do support the message through.

if you decide to to go forward with these new projects i hope you will one day make a master piece centralising suicide and depression.
it needs to be more seen instead of prevention campaigns garbage.

im grappling with so many people telling me that they look forward to my next project, im getting international work opportunities that i dreamed of having, someone who works at disney wanted to collaborate with me. i mean, its everything i ever wanted… but how long will it really last? i think the world is going to end no matter how many good things happen right now. i just want to be at peace, im almost itching to die at the soonest opportunity possible.

but maybe this can also make you connection to CTB right? i mean meet powerfull people with shaddy contacts.

But dont feel to much pressure. you owe nothing to anybody. think hard and decide what you want to do.

just know that you need to be proud what you created. 🫂🫂🫂

I can tell by watching your video that you're really talented and if you decide to not ctb and make this your passion you would go really far.

My reason to ctb is the same. It keeps getting hotter and soon food, water and shelter will be very different than now. I dont want to experience that on top of my depression. This years summer was hell, its not even over yet and its gonna be the coolest summer of our lives, only getting worse from here.

I also make content if someones interested i'll link my accounts down below. Some of my content also got viral and i was very happy but it doesnt last and you always go back to normal as if nothing happened.

I've just watched it and I have just one thing to say : Wow !
It's so beautiful. So much talent here ! So many talented people are suicidal and it always reminds me about Van Gogh. I wish you could have a good life without suffering but I wish you peace if your fate is to leave.
If your fate is to stay, I wish you success and inner peace (the most important thing in life).
🕊️💖
P.S. : I relate with what you say about global warming. Here in Europe, heatwave is unbearable (until 43° C) but when I see heatwaves in India (over 50°C), it's just insane and unbearable for physical and mental health.

That was one of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen. Thank you for giving a voice to us!!!!!!! The score, the animation, and the story was all so well planned out. Many users here have experienced more condemnation and anger for their attempts, then compassion for why they end up there. And your film highlights that so well. Were persecuted for when we attempt, but no one cares to no why we did it. It's because us attempting hurts them, but our suffering does not affect them. We can suffer as long as it's not their problem. We are in so much pain and it isn't for attention. And if we do it for attention then how neglected do we have to be feeling for us to do something so drastic. It's not light decision to CTB and especially as you highlighted to do it with cutting, which often fails and is really hard to hide. Even with the "attention" though hasn't stopped us from being ignored or dismissed.

Your symbolism and details with the cuts, the holes in the head, scarves, broken legs, and so much more is absolutely amazing. You put such meticulous thought into it. The voice acting really reflected the pain that you actually experience. And the color palette, nature and objects bring such calmness and whimsy to such a dark topic. I truly felt transported into your world for the entire film. The animation was also so smooth for the style and the transitions between scenes were timed well and done seamlessly.

The moments with Amrita's mom and just the overwhelming feeling of despair and nihilism masked by a gentle smile is such a real and raw experience. This feeling of despair and acceptance of her disposition keeps her trapped like her husband does. I think in many ways your story about AI and heat is like the mom. You are not entirely like her as an environmental advocate and creating this film you are trying to fight against both. But you are starting to feel that your efforts are inevitable and are losing the will to fight. I'll speak more about this in your other thread.

Thank you also for highlighting how all of us suffer. Soldiers, children, adults, of any race or gender or even status. We are all just people at the end of the day. People who cry and bleed the same. Who all die and become the same dust. Lola and Amrita truly are us. Not some romanticized or dramatized people. People like those on this platform. People in different situations and reacting to it through different methods, ED, SH, different forms of CTB, OD, and much more. Like I would believe you if you said you interviewed people. But you created characters that truly represent us. That's really rare. So thank you so much.

I am deeply sorry about climate change. And I'm deeply sorry about AI affecting jobs and such. I fucking hate AI too. I really wish we could all change and I wish we could do something about it. I haven't seen your film yet but will be watching it soon! I know how you feel thinking there is no future and I have no doubt humans will eventually destroy the planet one day. For context I am a 57f, and when I was a kid, US was under severe threat of nuclear war with Russia. I was terrified. It was always on the news. They would have test emergency alerts through the TV and radio. We all had to know where our local bomb shelter was. I thought we were all going to die and the planet would blow up. Could climate change be that deadly by 2050? Maybe, maybe not. You are only 20 years old and from reading the comments on here, extremely talented.
Things aren't that bad YET, so why not just enjoy some of the beauty in life for now.You can kill yourself any time.

Also wanted to ask if you have ever seen the 1973 Classic Film "Soylent Green"
If you haven't and are going to watch it, dont Google it because it has a famous twisted ending.

Key aspects of the film:
  • Setting:
A grim future (2022) with extreme overcrowding, pollution, and food shortages, where the masses subsist on Soylent Green, a processed food made from plankton.

  • Plot:
Detective Robert Thorn investigates the murder of a Soylent Corporation executive, uncovering a conspiracy with the help of his elderly roommate, Sol Roth.

  • Themes:
Environmentalism, overpopulation, resource depletion, social class disparity, and the breakdown of morality.

  • Legacy:
It's considered a classic of the genre, influential for its bleak vision and social commentary, and famous for its shocking final reveal.

  • Cast:
Stars Charlton Heston, Leigh Taylor-Young, and Edward G. Robinson in his final performance, which includes a poignant euthanasia scene.

This was a fantastic short film to watch, and managed to touch on the subject without hitting all the traditional tropes when suicide prevention media is created by people that don't know what it's like.

thank you so much for your kind words. i have some antiemetics and SN, but i need to figure out if i have everything properly organised and i need to settle my last affairs, like i need to figure out what to put on my note and what stuff to give away.
I honestly dont know how it didn't get demonetised. I think it's purely because it's a short film. YouTube's criteria is different for films covering topics as compared to regular videos. If you look up other short films on suicide on YouTube, none of them have been flagged either. thank you again
I apologise for the slow response, life brings you down windy roads sometimes :/

Edit: Yes this is a rant, I will organise it into sections because it is a lot.
Red - AI and related
Blue - Mental health and metaphors
Green - Disney and related

From what I've heard antiemetics and SN is a pretty painless way to go, alongside helium. Not sure why helium isn't as popular, maybe because sourcing tanks is harder & more expensive? I've never really hunted for the stuff so I wouldn't be 100% sure, except for the one time I tried to get a helium tank (my parents said no).

i've heard every piece of advice there is but there's nothing that's changing the fact that the world is ending. ai is going to take every job, and current news says that like… 40% of the population will die by 2050 because of the projected heat increase. The earth is certainly changing rapidly, and sometimes it certainly seems like it isn't for the best. It sure does seem like some people will do anything for a few extra bucks, even if it means throwing away the future of the world. Take the discovery of nuclear energy as an example, its discovery brought a new era of electricity to the world. Nuclear energy is free and has essentially 0 emissions, it's also incredibly safe (it is noteworthy to mention that Chernobyl was built in the USSR and they cut a lot of corners...). On the other hand, the governments of the world soon realised that they could use nuclear energy to decimate their enemies with profound levels of destruction. Overall, nuclear brought both good, and bad, into the world, which is a comparable situation to AI.

AI causes a lot of fear, rightfully so. It will continue to take jobs from people, whether that be website designers, engineers, or any other specific field of work. However, it'll still take a long time to replace all jobs, and there are other jobs that will almost always exist, such as plumbers or electricians (which isn't a dream job obviously). On the other hand, it's one of the best tools we've ever had. I'm "professionally unemployed", and I often use it to help me brainstorm ideas and figure out what I need to learn in order to build what I want to. Additionally, AI could in theory be paired with nuclear energy and in an ideal world, we could live carefree, as our electricity would be free, or near free, and AI would do our labor for us, although that's an entirely different topic and it would require a lot of stuff to work out perfectly which, as we've seen in history, never happens :p

Anyway, my overall point is that AI has ups and downs, and just like nuclear energy, it can seem like initially the cons outweigh the pros. I personally have no idea where AI will end up in a few years, but it is a very dystopian feeling..

I don't want to rant too much about all that though, we all know there's a lot wrong with the world, and it can certainly seem like the moral path is the one less travelled when it comes to "success" in life.

Regardless of which path you choose, nobody wants to die a painful death, but physical pain isn't the only type of pain there is. There's physical and mental pain, and both are relatively equal to each other, as both can lead to death. Although it is more common to die from physical pain, that isn't to say that mental pain isn't as dangerous, it's just that less people have it I suppose. In my opinion, dying from depression is comparable to dying in a house fire; it's as if your mind is burned to the point of death, and even if you survive, it'll leave scars on you that'll last the rest of your life. This isn't to say that those who choose to commit are morally wrong for doing so, I just want to emphasise the unfortunate reality that we're presented with. Either we can choose to suffer through the mental fire in hopes of finding a way out eventually, or we can choose to end our mental suffering permanently; it's essentially jumping out of a burning building instead of looking for the door. There's always a way out one way or another, although if you have mental illnesses like me, it certainly seems less viable to wait. This isn't to say it's hopeless though, sometimes just having one person by your side to help you out can make all the difference in the world. If we go back to the other comparison, having someone to help you through hardships is like having a friend rescue you from a burning building. Some people will stand and watch as the building burns, as they're afraid of getting burned by the fire themselves, others will call out for you if they know you're inside because they love you, but they too fear the fire, and while a firefighter will rescue you from a burning building because it's their job, having a friend/relative rush in to save you out of genuine love is entirely different. They know it's dangerous, and they know that they could end up burned by the fire, but they go in anyway.

Anyway my comparisons are getting a bit long sorry for the rant :p

A collab from Disney! Or well, someone that works there. That's something to be proud of, even if you aren't focusing on it right now. At face value, that may seem like a really good opportunity to get a good animation job, but if you were to land a job with Disney as an animator, you could put a film like SuicideLand in front of over a hundred million people. I loved SuicideLand not because of the quality (don't get me wrong the quality was great), but because of the fact that you helped a vulnerable community of people be seen and feel validated. The amount of thought and consideration you poured into the animation has inspired thousands of people, if not tens or hundreds of thousands, knowing how Youtube recommends specific content to people that need it.

To make one last comparison, the film SuicideLand was the start of a fire, and Disney is trying to hand you the torch. If you choose to pick up the torch, you could create something that is seen on a much higher level. Eventually your flame will burn out, as all do, but I think yours is special. Your fire has been seen by over a million people, and for many, it could be a beacon to hope, even if it's temporary. Not only do you understand the pain of suicide and depression, but you can illustrate it in art that everyone can understand, that's a talent not many people in this world have, and to have someone at Disney realise this talent.. Well, to be fair maybe they don't realise this exact talent, but the bottom line is that they know you're a great animator!

Again, either way you choose, whether it be to keep fighting, or to go peacefully, I'm here for you. If your mind is completely set, maybe try to do something you enjoy before you go? It'll be your last chance to do it after all, and nobody deserves to die completely miserable. Whether you die in a few days or in fifty years, I hope that you go peacefully and in a sound mind.
