  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I think the statistic is 90% don't go on to do it. Why is this? What about the other 10%? Why do certain people never attempt again and others go on to complete it?

I think that it is hard to say, it depends on the individuals lives and their circumstances. Things may get better for some people and they are able to live, and maybe others after a failed attempt have a fear of ctb and they are scared of attempting as they do not want it to go wrong again, so they feel as though they are trapped in their miserable lives and they suffer for decades. And of course many people completed ctb as they had the courage to go through with it, and many of them likely got desperate enough and could not deal with the pain of living anymore.

I think for most people it's about the sustained pressure on their lives, if you make an attempt,pt, your family and friends really everyone gets nicer and you get better. Or the opposite happens and it gets worse. Let's say you decide to try again but this time using your experience from before, starting the cycle again

So the people you have around you are important. That makes the difference.

I think it depends on the person and what their reason is for wanting to ctb. Everyone's situation is different. Some people may regret a past attempt especially if it was done impulsively. They may later realize that they didn't really think it through and ctb isn't the best option for them.

Some people are able to get the help that they need after an attempt. If they are able to get help and solve the issue that is the cause for their ctb, and they have hope that their situation will improve, then they wouldn't make another attempt.

On the other hand, if someone isn't able to get the help they need, and they feel their situation is only going to get worse and they are trapped, they could make another attempt if they get desperate enough.

The genetics aren't there, or they overcome whatever it was that drove them to attempt—I'm not sure if there's any literature that says one way or the other.
