Maybe time to rethink method

So I have just read a couple more posts today about someone's failed attempt at trying to hang themselves. Are most just making a story up, or is it death by hanging just a very unreliable method? I used to have a friend who killed themselves by suspension. He used one of the pull up apparatus' that hangs in doorways and just tied one end to the doorway and the other around his neck and just let his weight off his feet.. simple as that.. he could have just stood up if he wanted to. His feet were touching the ground when his mom found him, but he truly wanted to die so he didn't and now he is dead. But almost everyday on here I read at least one story if not 3-4 EVERYDAY about how the rope broke. Are most of these people just saying they tried it and the rope broke for some psychological reasoning that I can't contemplate? Just out of curiosity I took an old shoestring just to see if it would hold my weight (I'm 165-175lbs.) and I was able to do a pull up using a shoestring and it didn't break. Idk, to each their own I guess.. but I think maybe those thinking of using this method may need to rethink it. Plus, and again this is just my opinion, it seems like it's not a very quick and easy way to ctb.

Might be confirmation biased as i myself dont see alot of posts where someone says their rope snapped. Hanging is and always will be reliable. Its sometimes hard or people forget under the pressure from the fact they are going to end their lifes to make sure all the things are setup correctly.
Is hanging an easy option ? Its probably the best choice for most people. SN for most is unavailable and exit bag is even harder than hanging. Unfortunetly CTB is hard and there are no easy and quick options for most of us.

I think I agree with you there. More than likely most are probably in the moment when they make their attempt and just grab whatever with little to no preparation. So yea, it's likely more about the process instead of the method. I don't know why that didn't cross my mind before I wrote the post!!

i think there's quite a few self harmers who do hanging as a form of that, not intending to truly catch the bus.
so you might be reading some posts from some of them, idk.
or yeah, the ones who just grab whatever without proper research and preparation.
good for them that they're still alive...
but i don't like the connection between self harm and suicide.
they are two different things, not related at all.

some want to die...
some want to cope with their pain and live, and apparently self harm does that for them.
but that's two different things.

Hanging is a tried and true method. If you do the process right there should be no problem. The rope won't break unless you use a weak rope.
