I'm new to the forum but have been considering suicide for the last 5 years. The thing that's holding me back is fear of going to hell. If God told me tomorrow that I could CTB and not go to hell, I would do it immediately.
I would be really interested to hear the thoughts of anyone else who's dealing with this fear. Is there any way to overcome it or do I just give up on the CTB idea and accept that I'm stuck here?
Do any of the Churches still argue that people who CTB are destined to go to hell? I doubt it.

If you are not sure, you could speak with your local priest or pastor, although you might end up being institutionalised if you did that.

There is also the option of online confession if you are Catholic.

Thanks! I think the issue is more psychological than theological for me - there are bunches of denominations that say you'll go to hell and bunches that say you won't, so I don't see a clear way to get a definitive theological answer. I'm curious to know if anyone else is wrestling with this question and, if so, whether they've found any insights.

I personally have not, but that is because I feel that I will never be able to answer such a question. So I don't struggle with it psychologically. However, if your religion is important to you, it might be worth looking into the theological aspect a bit more.
