Venting lonely birthday

it isn't anything new that i'm spending my birthday alone, i've never had many friends and my parents are weird about celebrations; we don't even spend christmas together, we've always been very emotionally detached from one another. i don't know why i thought this year would change, and i don't understand why a small part of me hoped that it would because i know i'd hate it anyway if i had people around me today... but i still wish someone had atleast made an effort. i don't even need gifts, i don't like gifts! but i'd like the bare minimum of a happy birthday text yknow?? i know this is childish thinking, i don't need to be scolded on that, i just wanted to wallow in my own self-pity for a bit. i just can't wait to end it all soon so i don't have to sit through another lonely birthday.
