Hello, I'm new here, this is my first post

Well, I was holed up in my (dark sad yet strangely comfortable) room looking for something to make me feel alive

So, I started "studying" music on YouTube. I put "studying" in quotes because it's not something I force myself to do, I just look into it whenever I feel like it

Lately, this has been making me happy, and I thought I should share my experience with you all. Who knows, maybe I'll help someone discover a new hobby :D

Attached is a recording of me playing "In the Pool" from Chainsaw Man in a keyboard. It might not be perfect, but I gave it my all.

Hi and welcome here. Thanks for your lovely message ans for sharing your music (very nice 👍). Glad to see it helps you, but unfortunately most people here (including me) have a sick brain and disabilities and are too ill or tired to try something new. I love music too, but I don't have the force to try.

But it's good to see that your first post is in the recovery section and to help other people. Another proof that this forum helps more than it kills...

Take care of yourself and keep playing. I hope you'll find peace 💖

music is cool. When I pluck the strings of my guitar and it is starting to sound like the song i am learning, it makes me feel good. Also i noticed that recently i ve gotten better at improvising, feeling like i actually know what is happening on the fret.
Thought of getting myself a keyboard so i have an alternative to my guitar so maybe i could broaden my horizons this way, but i don t really have money for it now.

If you are starting to get into music, i highly reccomnd you to learn some basic music theory. Like, really basic. It is always useful.

im feeling emotional and unstable so i might come across a tad parasocial or melodramatic....... forgive me ,,,,,

my relationship with art in general is far more complex than what i can describe without hijacking the post, but in short: i love music with All my might, although i resent it all the same. im ctbing in 4 days. i really, really wish id created some proper songs before going. i wish music could have been something i left behind

your rendition of in the pool is very pretty. i find its got a bit of dissonance, but i think it adds to it. thank you for sharing it!!!! please, create as much as your heart desires - not only for you, but for all of us who couldn't

I applaud your effort and thank you for sharing. I played the piano for twenty-three years and created electronic music for around a decade. It can certainly be a very rewarding activity. I hope you continue and wish you luck!

as a music teacher this thread fills me with joy =] may your path be dictated by you alone, and try not to give up! The reward will be great in the end, especially if you're just doing it for yourself.

Don't stress if at times you feel stuck, just have fun and enjoy the process =]
(needless to say hit me up if you need any advice)

ive spent a lot of time teaching myself wilbur soot's songs on an acoustic guitar and to this day these are my fav songs to play on this instrument. I've got an electric guitar now and listen mostly to various kinds of rock but it's kinda boring to play power chords over and over again, at this point simplistic open chords with a capo attached feel like they have more character lmao.
I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good source to learn music theory, i've always wanted to grasp it but it's really exhausting to start honestly.
