Exactly, people tend to use kids as a means to fill a void in their life, this is what perpetuates suffer.

suffering causes a void, a void needs fulfillment, that void is filled with a child, that child will suffer in some way, and then it goes and goes.

Definitely. I feel so relieved for myself, and for 'them', that I haven't inflicted this shit on them. It's a relief to feel I don't have that tether, responsibility or quite the deep concern for the future. I just wish my parents had thought the same way.

I've read that over in Germany they also give higher tax penalty to single people without children. "Kinderlosenzuschlag", is that the proper word?

Oh wow. It is sort of the same over in my country(USA), but they also receive 1600 or 2000 USD for each child after filing taxes on top of the reduced taxes.
I think with a new proposal with the current administration, it is speculated they will give even more funds to people who have children. I guess this is due to declining birth rates here and the government wants to entice people to have kids.

I agree that life and ctb is much simpler without kids. But I firmly disagree with the whole "people who have kids are bad" thing. I have kids, raised them, made sure they went to college, and continue to spend time and money on them. I did it for them, not to fill any need I had. Their existence gets in the way of me heading for the exit as I desperately want to. And I wish I had never been born. But there's so much more to it. Don't have kids if you don't want to, but don't hate on the people who do.

As someone in his 30's I never had any kids nor do I plan on it. Sentience is cruel enough for me and I have no inclination to bring anyone into this existence against their will.

Totally. It would be irresponsible to put anyone through what I've been through. Not to boast about how bad I've had it - no, on the contrary, my life has been pretty good considering my slothful approach to it. But there are people out there who are far better suited to be parents. I'm glad I'm not one of them. Ruining a child's life by setting a bad example would be unforgivable.

I'd like having a family under good circumstances. I've never been in the right place though. I'm always way too focused on myself. Also really scared of passing my fucked up mental and physical health problems to my children. That would suck. Feels like life is getting harder to navigate for younger people especially.

I'm just scared of being alone and I have been alone my whole life and I still cannot deal with it. I will be alone until I die. Which is scary. Imagine ending up in a nursing home where you get severely neglected. It happened to my grandmother until she was brought back to her home for 24/7 caretaking. But I would never have kids just to fix that fear. Maybe there's a way to accept being completely alone?

I'll ctb for sure before that happens. It's probably one reason why suicide rate increases with age. When that time comes, I hope it's possible to ask a doctor to give me the good stuff they use for euthanizing animals (Nembutal?).
