It's nice to have a company, for however long, as long as you understand what the mindset of most would be and you don't expect too much of people. It can backfire though when one becomes less suicidal and stops to comprehend how/why someone would need "such a ********** place".

No, unless you can meet. Virtual friendship has no depth, no matter how much you open up to each other

It depends. If you're struggling with loneliness then I don't need to elaborate but if you're not, going through the grief of losing a friend, online or not, is going to most likely make your situation worse.

I've been trying to find someone to connect with here, preferably someone from Finland or nearby, but I'm beginning to think my efforts are worthless. I'd kill to find someone else similar to me to relate with being a NEET girl. So I'm not sure there is a point in making friends here if it seems impossible.
Ive been searching for other Finnish people on this forum 🤗

Your question is - Is there any point to making friends here. Let me ask you. In that case, Is there any point to making friends anywhere? There really is no guarantee about human behavior. And for a person to not be in your life, they dont necessarily have to ctb. In fact, for many of us, many people who are alive are as good as dead lol not kidding. I consider myself quite social or atleast I used to be. There's a handful of people I still stay in touch with from 10 years ago. So life's like that.

Anyway to answer your question. I have made some amazing friends here. I have also lost an amazing friend I met on this site. All I will say is as long as the communication is online, i think making friends is ok. Just dont be an idiot and go on a date or go get coffee immediately upon talking to someone here. Exercise caution.

I've tried to, but i find it incredibly hard to maintain conversations with severe depression. It's not the other person's fault, i just can't connect with ppl at all. Similarly, a lot of us here are probably not great at making or keeping friendships for various reasons. It's not that we're bad people, but our brains make it difficult.
I think im best off just reading and responding to people's threads, but keeping somewhat of a safe distance so i don't give myself or the other person false hope that a friendship is forming.
