I've prayed for this too~ I'm sure many have~ A guy named Job is even detailed as doing so in the Bible~ Unfortunately, God has His own will and won't concede to our every wish~ but we can continue praying~ :)

Yeah, isn't it interesting to think about something like Sokushinbutsu, which was seen as a way of being closer to God and achieving a deeper state of peace. Both the people who did it and the community around them saw it as a beautiful, honorable act, and those who completed it were deeply respected for doing so.

Yet it was suicide, there's no way around that, and it involved a lot of self-harm practices too. These monks were slowly enduring extreme, deliberate self-harm for months and years, culminating in their death, and everyone around them knew it. But they deeply respected it.

Compare that to the views on death and dying in many societies today, where even if you die alone and in silence, without another soul knowing, it's considered dishonorable and selfish if it's suicide. The concept of people respecting your choice of when and how to die, much less viewing it as honorable, is completely alien in most places.

I tried that before a medical procedure, hoping that they'd use a too large dose of anaesthetics or something. Interestingly, the medical procedure failed and was cancelled (glad i wasn't awake during it), and the very next day i was robbed while on my way home from work. Never happened to me before, but if god is out there, i guess i was punished in a way

I have tried it, for long and hard. Did not work. I mean all of a sudden I found my way here, found answers to some questions I had, got introduced to a peaceful and reliable method that I bet my whole country doesn't know about or about this site for that matter.......this could be my prayers being answered, who knows

Not in my experience. I've known very devout family members pray for their end every day. If God isn't interested in helping their most loyal sheep, I doubt they have time for the rest of us! (Don't know how religious you are...) Too busy killing people who don't want to die maybe...
